Check this bad boy out. I wouldn't mind owning this little rocket. Pasted from my email:
"The new Ford Focus RS has arrived. At the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, Ford of Europe's fastest volume model ever debuts in final production form for the first time. The legendary Ford RS brand is returning after six years, applied to an all-modern interpretation of the RS philosophy, creating the latest in an impressive line of affordable and practical, yet exhilarating performance cars. At the heart of the new Focus RS is its turbocharged Duratec RS 2.5-litre engine, creating a distinctive performance character, with peak power of 305PS (300 bhp) at 6,500 rpm and peak torque of 440Nm between 2,300 and 4,500 rpm."

I LOVE IT!
What a TOTAL disconnect...a little econo Focus with a thumper V8 idle.
I've got to build one of those!
That is one cheap way to go REALLY fast.
Cut up a used $3,000 Focus add a 450 HP 351W for another $4,000 and for under 10K you are beating the snot out of just about anything on the road...
And, as they say in those CC commercials...
"The look on the Lambo driver's face as a Focus walks him: PRICELESS!!"
BTW: I'm glad to see the Brits giving a FORD product a great review.

IIRC from my ZX3 days, there is a full kit available to make it easy.

Are you joking??
If you been watching Top Gear etc. you'll know the best cars almost all the time are the Ford Ka, Ford Focus, Ford Mondeo and Land Rover.
The car they don't like would be any Vauxhall (Opel) specially the Vectra, (that would be the Chevrolet Malibu in the U.S.)
And about the new RS, It looks great almost like the WRC car and the Volvo 2.5T engine is also great.
But it has 2 big problems
1. Not AWD (How is it gonna compare to the Evo's and Impreza's ?)
2. Not available in black ( only white, blue and green:puke:)

They trashed the FORD GT.
They thought that the Shelby GT500 was a powerful yet overweight, understeering pig. (Well, they may be right on that one...:o)

FWIW, Jeremy LOVES his GT, but just happened to get a "bad one" with a few problems. The only thing I recall he didn't like (when they were testing that, the Zonda and the Ferrair) was it didn't handle like it should have. Too bad all he's used to driving are really high end Lambo's, Ferrari's, BMW's and Benz's, which all do very well handling wise. Straight line comparison though, he gave praise to the GT.

I like the blue and green together, reminds me of Kawasaki. Team Green, yo!
They are pretty damn good looking cars, though. Does need AWD to finish the package.

In the Fifth Gear review, he said the new Advance Trac RSC really helps and there's virtually no wheel spin unless you really push it.
Very nice cars! AWD would be probably make me trade in the SVT!
BTW, there are a lot of 300 fwhp Focii here in the states. Turbo kits are relatively cheap compared to other vehicles.
Beware!!!! :)

God I remember seeing that ZX351 video. I still giggle like a kid when I hear it destroy the tires at speed. The great thing about a sleeper like that - if a cop looks up for all the commotion - he sure as hell ain't gonna suspect a Focus.

Talk about cars that don't deserve motors!

It's to bad that the powers that be don't believe that we in the states have the brains to handle or deal with that kind of power from a small platform car. (meaning the 305hp focus):(

From what I have heard there will be a even better car coming soon, the Volvo C30R, it will have AWD and 45hp more. It will probably sell in USA.
