I'm seriously thinking of taking the plunge next month and getting a bike. I've always wanted to get my own but never got serious enough. I've been shopping. So far I'm heading toward a Harley Super Glide or Street Bob though I could spring for a Electra Glide. I've always loved those.

Nice.. I wonder what kinda power thats gona put down....?

stock is 85 hp....i would figure with the bore, cams, and carbs dialed in.. at least 100-105 hp....i m gonna run it to stretch cam chain and break in pistons and if i degree cams, should be around
105-110 max.....not too shabby for a bike that will redline at 8k...
in the past i had an 1150 gs with an 1198 kit that put down 127 at the wheel.....great bike....had a 2000 zrx1100 brand new, traded that for a 01' zx9r....that 9 put down the power and handled sweet...great combo......i still miss the 1150e...whatever ya lost in the corners, you got back REAL FAST on the straights.....

Ummm, no, Bassani, with a Bassani power curve header. We did a sound pressure test, standard L.E. test you would get done in the field.

20 feet @ idle, 96db, 20 feet , WOT, buried the meter past 150 db , hell yeah, just right, the only issue, gotta wear ear plugs.

hadamustang, in 02' when I built this, 95" was pretty much it, I am still kicking around doing a Jim's 120", but as it is, 20 more HP won't seem like much.

I sold this a year after buying the Marauder. I bought my 2004 KLR650 brand-new and put all 5300 miles on it. When I sold it I had it outfitted with all the aluminum skidplates, guards and goodies you could imagine. It had a taller and wider windshield, stainless-steel body hardware, braided steel brake lines, Odyssey battery and Big Gun exhaust. It was a ground pounder and would do flip-of-the-wrist wheelies in any of the first three gears. My next bike (after buying a Trilogy) will be a silver Suzuki Boulevard M109R.

Thanks for the compliment. Its an Electra Glide Standard and is the least expensive HD Touring bike. No radio, no tour pack, no cruise control (but yes, it still has a cigarette lighter!). Costs about 2-3k less than a Street Glide/Road Glide/Electra Glide Classic.

Everyone has their personal preference. Just like a car, it’s all about what you are looking for. For me I don't take my MM to the track (at least for now), that when my ZX14 comes in. Who says you can’t ride in style on a sports bike?

You're welcome! The Standard is the one Tour bike I'm looking at. I don't need the extras and the extra expense of the fancier Electra Glides. My buddy has a Standard too. Right now I'm torn between the Standard as a tourer and the Dynas (Super Glide Custom & Street Bob) as a cruiser. Just don't know yet. I hope to make the decision in April.

They moved things around a little this year. The only Victory Booth I came across was at the track and it was test rides only, of course they were out on the road. :(

It was packed! I heard it started a little slow, but I think it was as big as any year by the time the final weekend hit. I left Boot Hill just before midnite Saturday and the line over the bridge coming in was still a mile long.
Forgot to take a pic of my bike there! We road quite a bit, including the ride up and back I put over 800 miles on her. I went to the first 200 under the lights Friday nite, fun, but the officials must have been on loan from NASCAR as they kept trying to get a restart for the last few laps. What a cluster ****. It was something to see these 600s going three wide at over 180 on the front stretch and then diving into the infield road course. :bows:
So I snapped a pic at a rest area on 95 on the way home Sunday.

This is my fourth big twin, attached are some pics of my previous "hotrod" bikes. Have to say after buying my FL Id never go back to riding a bike without a fairing/windshield. Also, "geezer glides" arent exactly uncool anymore. I prefer to ride in comfort and also have a place to stash raingear, a jacket ect....

Not the bikes, some of the riders maybe. :) I rode sport bikes for years, just kept getting too aggressive. I switched to Harley's in 95, but I am looking for something semi-aggressive for some weekend rides and maybe some track days.

Some sport bike riders are total tools, but I don't hate ALL sport bike riders... I like the looks of them, but after owning a nice big cruiser that is so comfortable to ride, I can't make the switch to a sprt bike! I rode my friends for 15 minutes and I couldn't take it! My wrists and lower back were already starting to tense up and hurt... THe cruiser spoiled me!

Thanks TJ,I couldn't count them all cause I had my shoes on,lol.
That's not all of my old Harley's just some I had pictures of handy.
When I was out of work I used to buy used "metric" bikes and fix them up to sell.I sold a lot of the collectible ones back to Japan,1975,76,&77 Honda CB400F's,First and second year CB750's First year Gold Wings and a Limited Edition Gold Wing,a few 2 stroke Kaw triples,a Yamaha RD400F Daytona and some others. At one time I had 17 bikes in a 2 car garage. My son used to have to crawl over them to get the padlocks and other locks off the door so I could open it up to work on something.
All in all I figure I've bought, fixed up and sold about 25 CB750 single cams, about 8 or 9 GL1000's and a couple GL1100's.I picked up a mint 1981 Yamaha Seca 550 with 863 miles on it one time from an old auto repair joint for $550,another time I got a 1980 Kaw 550 mint one owner bike that'd been sitting for about 9 years for $400.Them were the days.

Uncle Lar, I love the last one... 0'skool!

Drew, that was my favorite of all my Harley's,if I could've gotten it back in the same condition it was in when I sold it I would've traded my new FatBoy even up for it.It was a "barn find" as was the bike in the 5th picture.1964 FLH.After I got it in the garage, tore it down and rebuilt everything except the motor and trans, believe it or not even though it had been wrecked and sat in a garage with only half a roof for 7 or 8 years the motor and trans were still in real good shape!
The real "old school" bike was in the 5th picture,it was a real Bob Job,not like the cr@p they call bobbers now.It was parked in the real late 50's or early 60's and that picture was the day I got it.That was the first time it had seen daylight in over 20 years, and the tires held air. It was a 1952 EL,the last year of the 61 cu.in. Big Twins and the first year they put foot shifts on Big Twins. You'd cr^p if I told you where I found it,it was a VERY bad neighborhood.

The 64 was a swing arm frame, when I was done with it it looked more like my FatBoy except spoke wheels and the swing arm,but it rode and handled better than the FatBoy or my bagger. The faster it went the better it handled though it was no road racer.

Sure they had camera's then,my buddy Matthew Brady took some of these pictures for me,lol.
It was a pleasure for me to speak to you as well. How's the MM parts refurbishing hobby coming along?Have you figured out any common but repairable failures on the stock head units?
Takedown, when you talked about the rigid did you mean the blue 52 EL ,the Red w/Black flames chopper or the 64 I was sitting on? I thought you meant the 64 but that was a swing arm bike,my first swing arm bike.It did spoil me but I can still handle a hard tail. :coolman: :burnout:

Does anyone hear ride a Suzuki Marauder? Especially the 04 1600? I always thought it would be a good match for the MM. That was a one-year-only bike. They made the bike one more year, but the name was changed to the Boulevard M95.

I looked at several, but it's not really my style of bike, and they're way down on power compared to some of the other big cruisers.

I thought the same thing about having the suzuki marauder to match the car, but I went with an 04 suzuki intruder 1500

The RK Custom is in the trailer, ready to go to the shop for a 95 kit. The Samson-Ray price 2-1 exhaust (black) is on, though loose. I have neglected modding her for too long.

Congrats guys,I've seen some pretty nice bikes here, even them darn furrin ones, lol.
One bike I'd like to get is a nice 1931 Henderson KJ for a Sunday rider, not a show bike.I'd do some modernization on it to improve the reliability and performance but it would still look stock and be able hit over 110 mph.Ha,that would be pretty scary with the stock brakes though.
Here's a link to a nice 31 KJ. http://www.hendersonkj.com/kl35149/index.html

A real chopper, not an overpriced fat tired custom bike that they call a chopper today. Seems to me a real chopper is any pre-evo harley motor on a Paucho wishbone frame with upswept fishtails, 6 inch risers, a skinny back tire, spokes, front brake optional, a Mustang tank, one dentist mirror and a round aluminium oil bag. Naturally, Im too fat to ride one and will stick to my FL.

Yes, what passes for a chopper now-a-days is typical of the excess in the country. I just refer to them as "bar bikes". Fun for bar hopping and looking good in the parking lot. Don't get me wrong, some of them are gorgeous bikes, and if I had an extra 30-40k I wanted to piss away, I would get one.

OTH, I just got the RK Custom back from the shop Saturday after the 95 kit and the Samson 2-1. I did not get the numbers I wanted but she went up an average of 30% in Torque and 39% in hp from 3000-5500 rpm. The gains at 2500 and 6000 were closer to 10%, but that was more about the dyno then the bike. I will post a pic of her with the new pipes later.

Great thread and a great bunch of bikes!

I have never rode...and likely never will ride anything bigger than a motocross bike.

My son Gage however....he may be the first in our family to find interest.

He got his first bike when he was 4, the TTR-50 shown below.
He basically rode this within a year of learning to ride a bicycle.

This past Memorial day we picked up the new Yamaha TTR-110.
I don't have pics yet. He is a blast to watch, but has a lot of learning to do.

I just bought this two days ago. It's a 2009 Suzuki 650 DS. It's too bad neither H-D or Polaris wants to build something similar since buying American is always my first choice.

Hey Glockafella that silver on yours is what I originally wanted but in my bikes' bodystyle, but the blue is pretty sweet too. I love these bikes because just as our cars they are rare finds. All you see on the streets are gixxers and hondas. I really want an 06-07 zx10 now..

My dad bought a '10 Harley Electra glide ultra limited last week, with the new 103 cu in motor.
