luckily we are all ok, and the damage is mostly in the ceiling and attic. chimney fire, that heated up the heat exchanger ducted to the HVAC that must have been glowing, it ignited the insulation. smoke damage, unknown damage to the heat exchanger. I have a great view of the un-insulated attic area from downstairs though. the volinteer firefighters were awesome, did a great job, and were as careful as humanly possible in a firesuit. they even dumped the debris in the firepile 200 ft away before they left at 2am.
what a week.
chimney was cleaned last fall, and we used dry oak all winter, must have been some green stuff in there somwhere.

Holy cow, glad you and the family are alright. Being a vol. firefighter myself, most of us have homes of our own, so not causing more damage than the fire does is something we train for and take pride in. Glad your guys have the same creedo.

Glad to see you and the family are ok and sorry for your material loss. Sounds like the beginning of a new start that should hopefully turn things around for you bro.
Like Paul said, we try and take care of how we handle things, afterall it is your home and valuables; the old days of kicking and breaking things is over. Much more tactical and safer for all.
Chin up amigo, things will get better!
