Anyone ever done this, especially those in or near Nevada.
Stacy David is talking about it on Gearz.

Now this would be a dream come true! I think you better have some equipment and luck if you are going to do this thru the desert. So who is going to step up to the plate! :D

Does anybody know for a fact what the actual top speed is for an other wise stock MM with 3.55's and the speed limiter removed? Like maybe GPS derived top speed?

Some have had theirs pretty fast, but i don't think i've ever seen a thread with a definitive top end. Looks like you'd have plenty of room to play. There's a few Ford products in here.

I have "buried" the speedo more than a few times.
I will be installing the F700 BT hopefully next weekend - if it displays speed I will let you know!
I do have lower profile tires but still have the 3.55's.

+1
I was out in Salt Lake City a few years back and drove out to the Salt Flats one weekend, the roads out there are straight and wide open. Cruised most of the way 90+ and was getting passed by semis!

I'M GOIN IT!!!! I live in Las Vegas.
As to the top speed question, with my Garmin GPS I registered 171mph. I would not run that speed for any length of time, as that was red lining the engine, however I could run 160 safely all day long. (and have)
I cant wait for this event!

I'm talking stock from the factory with just the speed limiter removed, but top end speed even with a CAI and a tune would be a help.I'm not talking about readings from a speedometer,I used to work in a speedometer shop and very few are accurate and even then usually only at certain speeds.

Which one are you shooting for May or Sept. Are you going for recognition and if so, what are you going to choose for your target speed for the 90 miles.
Keep us posted.
BTW, Gearz with Stacey David comes on again Sunday 6:30 am CST. It'll probably be a repeat of todays show, and if so he'll be talking about this.

I have never been a part of the above mentioned event... However. Last December I bought my MM from a dealership in Arizona and on the way back to California on the I-10 (long straight and for the most part cop free... for the most part) I was able to open her up a bit. Usually I do drive rather slow, never wanting to appear rushed, I like having power when I need it. However I needed to do it at least one time, there wasn't anybody around, my friend was in the passanger seat and my brother was driving the rented 08 Honda Accord that brought us their. My brother makes a few high speed passes at me and then opens his window and screams at me that the speed limit is 75 and I could go faster... So I did and I went from 60 mph to 135 in what felt like 4 seconds and it felt like it would keep going (and it is stock):burnout:. However being fearful of getting arrested in my new car and in a state I don't live in, I slowed back down to 60 (felt like I wasn't moving) and carried on my way home.
My Brother however never slowed down and got pulled over doing 110mph, we stopped at the nearest gas station called him while the cop was talking to him, just to let him know where we were (and to see if I needed to get him bail).
While we were waiting though I guy pulled into the gas station from the Interstate just to drool over the Merc :pimp:.
My Brother was let off with a warning (for some reason). I told him he better of kissed the officers boots:bows:.
So I think it can go 140+... Just my experience.

My plan is by 2012 to do it.
I've done the research and have talked with a few drivers that have done it. The only thing that worries me is everyone has told me their safety protocols are kind of a joke.
