"On any given day 5.5 million pints of Guinness, the famous Irish stout, are consumed around the world.

On St. Patrick's Day, that number more than doubles to 13 million pints, said Beth Davies Ryan, global corporate relations director of Guinness."

Don't know much about beer, but I've been putting a dent in the corned beef stockpiles. Eating my 3rd since Sunday today.

Might I remind you I am Home Brewer......??

I just made an Oatmeal stout that took a Silver medal. Brewed at the end of January, judged in begining of March. Gets better with age.

Try Guinness Extra Stout. Much better than the draught served under Nitrogen.... Nitrogen is the only thing that saves Guinness draught.

I will be having an oatmeal stout in celebration of the day. Not very Irish, but today, I'll pretend.

Really?

Halloween is for men to drink and watch women who dress like hos. There are costumes for middle school girls that I would expect strippers to only be allowed to wear indoors.

Also, due to pedophiles most Halloween events now take place in shopping malls.

Or bars.

Flag day? Maybe where you are. I put my flag out on most national holidays but I am one of very, very few. Maybe because flags get stolen around here if they are left out all the time.

Don't get me wrong - I think traditions are great to have, if they are done right. We just tend to f:censor: up most of them.

Iowa. The same place that during the huge flood last year, bangers drove in from larger cities to loot flood damaged/evacuated houses. Locals did too, but they caught a lot of out of towners on flooded properties. My stepdad had to move his gun collection from his basement gun safe to his living room (couldn't get them all out by rowboat) so instead of staying with us where he should have been, he slept on the upper floor of his once house then lake for 2 weeks.

People steal the craziest sh:censor: In my classroom I have easily $100K+ in equipment. What do the kids steal? The $2.99 headphone jack adapters!

Is Iowa a "king of the castle" state? I know out here if something like that happened to our locals there would be a number of unmarked graves and no one would talk about it.

Well I killed a six pack of Guinness last night, Wish Joe was my neighbor, his last beer he gave me had me and the wife trying to get our mouths on the bottle at the same time. I made some home made Pastrami that got wiped out as I made nice grilled sandwiches with real Emmenthaler that cost way too much, brought out the dinner leaches that know when it stinks Tom's in the kitchen cooking up some love.

If I understand "king of the castle" correctly, no, sadly Iowa is not.

However, I seriously doubt a property owner shooting looters while attempting to steal from his property would be convicted. Self defense in your own home is a safe bet.

With looting, all you have to do is execute one of them. Publicly. Then it will decrease dramatically.

Great crowd, met lots of fun people at the bar while waiting for a table, then we had a great meal of corned beef & cabbage with delicious lamb stew.

I completed the 'Irish Trifecta':

2. Smithwicks
3. Guinness

MMMMM.....Beer
I've never had a favorite, lately I've been drinking Heineken in the 5liter kegs. It's very good and different than their others.
Spaten Opptimater is good, I buy allot of that.
Tsingtao in ShangHai is the best German Pilzner I've ever had and I had a factory in Germany.
I would like something as refreshing and thirst quenching as the original Molson Ale with the red label I could buy back in the '70's, not too bitter like an IPA.
The Oktoberfest beer from Paulaner and Lowenbreu used to be excellent.
Sam Smith's Winter Welcome and Fisher Alsatian are yummy.
Your samples were the best, let me know when you need someone to start welding stainless steel 30 barrel tanks for you.

Wow Tom. I am gonna' be busy.

Molson Export, we can still get that. We call it Armadillo beer. If you turn the lable sideways, the ship looks like an Armadillo.. Really

I need to run a couple batches of Belgian Golden Strong ales off. Then off to England for an Extra Special Bitter. Just pounded out 10 gallons of Foreign Extra Stout on Sunday. We did a Baltic Porter and aged it in an oak burbon barrel for 6 months. That is going to take some time to mellow in the bottle. Geez, I am fresh out of Barley Wine.

I have a big cooler for lageing in. I can run off some Spaten, mine will be maltier and stronger though... I have a habit of that. I think I had some Scotch ale when I saw you. that is long gone, but I can make more.

The real light flavored beers I have not yet mastered. They are too finicky. I'll give your Heinekin a try.

Better Beer days are coming.

Black Label = yuk, choke and puke. I've had Scaefer"s and enjoyed it. They used to basically give it away back home. I actually grew up drinking Genny Cream Ale, known as Genny Screamers to some :D I swear people quit drinking back home when the the brewery workers went on strike in 75 and the supply dried up. Haven't had one in years. The best was Genessee Bock Beer, came out twice a year. Sold out in a matter of hours back home.

You know, as far as cream ales go. Genny is pretty good. It's what we call a Hybrid beer. Ale yeast fermented at cooler temperatures. Lots of corn in the mash too.

For all you beer people Try this link>>>> http://www.bjcp.org/docs/2008_Guidelines.pdf

Pick your style and find commercial examples. I am a certified Beer Judge, two points away from being National, Of which there are only about 450 worldwide... Don't believe Beer Judges are for real, poke around the site and go to the BJCP Exam Center.

This is, for real, the place to find out EVERYTHING you want to know about beer and how to drink it.

Enjoy, and don't ever say I never did anything nice for ya'll...

By The way, Duvel was one of my favorite beers when actually made in Belgium. Now made in New York, still good, just not AS good. I have tried to make it 19 times. Each batch is excellent, but not a true Belgian Golden Strong Ale, always a great Trippel though. I'll keep trying.
