I have never seen a stock caprice run. But i have raced a modified Caprice and all the CAM guys that were with me will justify if needed. He had Hooker headers, Some kind of heads,Built Trans, Race gas and a "race tune". He ran 14.6 and that was his BEST run EVER! No problem, I'm one of us. As for the Crapices, there were some with the better motor. I think they had that ABS badge on the back amongst some other indicators. Also, some of the B body wagons (Crapice, Toadmaster, etc.) had better gearing, IIRC.

yea like i told you bro i own both so i know which one will win.

and the cappy (caprice) and gaymasters (roadmasters) i could care less for..

i never said anything wrong with the MM because i wouldnt have got one.. but non of you can say stock for stock its faster..

I love my Marauder but sure did like the Impala SS and Caprice police package LT1. I'd love to own both cars, but I've always been a Ford person so when the Marauder came out I knew I was going to own one someday (owned for two happy years now :)). I used to look at the SS's from time to time at used car lots. Love the bigger engine. It was a close call at times, but I went with the Ford/Mercury. The Impala SS and police Caprice are still great cars. Still a lot of Impala SS's driving around that I see and in good condition. I think of full size Impala SS drivers as brothers. The days of the market for the big gas guzzling sedans with big blocks (bluesmobiles) is over but my hats off to all of us that love full size sedans with some performance. Here's a little secret for all my Marauder "bros." When you get someone smack talking like this guy, agree with him. Kinda like this:

SS, "My car is so much faster than yours....."
MM, "Yeah, I know. I was a little disappointed with it."
SS, "I'd whip your butt on the track...."
MM, "Yeah, but I'd still like to try."
SS, "Ha Ha, you're just wasting your time...."
MM, "Ok, so give me the drop."
SS, "Blah blah blah, sure, maybe we can put a little green on it."
MM, "Well, I dunno, I'm kinda worried."
SS, "*****, yadayadyada..."
MM, "Well, ok."

Then, as you slowly work your way back to him from the drop, never beat him by more than a fender. Bingo, gas and mod money. It works, I know.

ok... you own a marauder... great... you also own an impala... super... if you like your impala so much more than the marauder, then stick to your impala site... there is no room for someone starting crap over here... you want to start crap and put an Impala in your signature on a Marauder site....

BOUNCE SON!

On a related note - this IS MM.net where anybody can join and pester those that dropped 35 large on the real thing! Suddenly it becomes crownvic.net / grandmarquis.net / fordmaverick.net / buickcentury.net yadda-yadda-yadda. Just like illegal aliens - WE let them in, now we have to tolerate them.:burnout:

Im about to put an end to this MM vs SS thing right now. The SS shares the same engine as a police caprice, roadmaster, and a few civilian caprices. But there are no crown vics or grand marquises with marauder engines. There were only 11,000 MMs so its rarer to see them. I see a SS everywhere nowadays. I dont even think they should be considered a rare car. The SS beats the MM off the line but the MM will competely destroy a SS from a runing start. My friends have both so I know. Besides the MM has fogs and cooler looking wheels. Get over it The MM is the better car.

I would love to try this, but I've yet to find an Impala SS owner who will even look in my direction. Either too cocky or too ashamed of his car...

Check my age first--I owned a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis LX with the factory optional Performance and Handling package ( very similar to the Police Interceptor Package). In 1995--that's 3 years AFTER my car, the Impala SS came out--it looked like the Grand Marquis and had similar options. I drove comparison tests on the 2 cars and found the Grand Marquis would outrun and outmaneuver the Impala--this was a showroom car versus a showroom car--no mods on either. They are both fine cars--but Ford did it first---the Chevy came out after. The Marauder is a direct copy of the Grand Marquis with an improved Performance and Handling Packag--it has nothing to do with being a "copy " of the Impala SS. The Marauder was conceived as "The first true muscle car of the 21st Century" and beat the Mopar and GM "muscle cars" by 3-5 years. Poor marketing killed the Marauder--not the competition. Enjoy which ever car you want--I'll take my Marauder (clocked at 121 mph on street tires with me driving at Texas Motor Speedway)--at 98,000 miles , it still pulls as strong as day 1. Have fun, Maury

Heck with that -

Ford did the big black car with one of its very first production models before Chevy even existed

The Chevy guys who think the Impala SS was innovation need to grab a clue the next time they hit Wal-Mart.

... I don't know Impala gets 260hp from a 5.7L engine and the Marauder gets 302hp from a 4.6L, then there is the 330 torque (Impala) to the 318 of the MM, Impala weighs around 4,000lb the MM weighs 4195 lbs how is the Impala better, it just comes off as inefficient they have a little more torque and less weight, but that doesnt seem to be enough at all. I mean I like the SS and good for them for going American, but the inside is awful...and 260hp from a 5.7L!!!! In 1999 I worked at a local Chevy dealer as a lot boy. Part time job that worked with my college schedule and allowed me to deliver papers in the morning, sleep, and come in at 12pm. I cleaned up new cars, arranged displays, and cleaned up the used cars as well. We had 2 cars that almost made me into a Chevy guy. One was a 1998 Camaro Z28 in dark blue, the other a 1996 Impala in black. After driving the Camaro around for a while one day, I didn't like the feeling of laying down in the car. The Impala however, I almost fell for. Had they not sold it, I probably would have bought it. I brought it home and showed my parents, since I was 17 they would have to get the loan in their name and I would make the payments. I just waited to see if the price would come down and it sold one Saturday afternoon.

I wanted a MM when they first came out, but couldn't justify $35k when the 03-04 Cobras were the same price. I knew that as soon as the values started coming down, I would own one. I test drove 3-4 before finding my car, and I'm proud to own a legend in the Marauder world (BillyGMan's old car.)
