just driving along today. came to stop light. pressed accelerator when it turned green and got high revs, like it won't come out of first gear... but didn't even feel like it was in first.
the O/D light was flashing last week for a day, but I ignored it... so used to strange glitches and goofy issues with car --- was it trying to tell me something?
should I just get it towed to dealer?

The OD light flases like a diagnostic code. Did you check for low fluid? Have you overheated the hell out of it? How many miles are on it?

Will check fluid momentarily.
I'm heavy on the pedal, keep the O/D off in town.
It's at 63,000 miles.

The tranny in my marauder went out @ 44k miles. It was running fine & while I was pulling away from a light I heard a clunk & lost overdrive & reverse. Luckily my Ford extended warranty paid for it.

Fluid's beautiful. Looks brand new. Level's perfect.
WTF?
I have not tried to drive it again.

without some codes your only guessing!
could be a defective shift solenoid.
either way you have to read the codes
and drop the pan to fix anything. so a tow
is probably in order.

Oh, yeah, I know I'm just guessing. But I always like to troubleshoot it here before I roll into the shop.
Fired it back up this evening, it went right into reverse and drive gears fine, no issues. I will drive it to the shop tomorrow am.
Between my headlights not coming on last week for a day, an afternoon of flashing O/D OFF light, and then this happening while JDA, something's funky.

Could be anything.
Mine (on the Marquis) was flashing and it was a temp. sensor in the transmission. Even after replacing it, the transmission went.

Mine acted like that in January '08 while on a bidness trip in Waycross, GA (200 miles away)....Grrrr!!!:mad2: Had to rev past 2000 RPM's to get first to engage??;)
Drove it all the way back to trans shop here and the only issue was the 2000 RPM's from a stop......rebuilt with no solenoids or electronics replaced and it has been fine for 14 months now (36K miles)!!!
Good Luck!!

... something's funky.
Welcome to Marauderdom, where most think they love the car enough to put up with waaaaay too much funky. I'm one of those people.
The blinking OD light is the equivalent of the check engine light for the transmission.

Got it to the shop today. Transmission needs at least an "overhaul" - service writer told me they won't know what's wrong until they start tearing it down (doh)...
Quoted me a price for a brand new transmission of 2800 plus 150 tax - comes with 3 years/100 mile warranty. (what happens to my Stallion Torque converter I wonder?... maybe it's the thing that's fried....)
I've replaced an engine. Gone through 16 tires. And now the tranny...
I think I'm through with the funky.
If anybody wants it as is, right now, make me an offer...

$2800 is high if that does not include the install

I'm not going to hold onto this thing for another 3 years or 100000 miles anyway - the warranty doesn't matter to me.
However... since it does include all parts and labor and I need my car back, I told them to do it.
Maybe the warranty will help me get rid of the car. It's got factory warranty of motor and transmission now at 63K miles....
