Taurus X is the Ford Freestyle. They renamed it Taurus X in hopes of it selling better. It didnt. It was cancelled 1 or 2 years later.

They are kinda neat, but chick cars,

Jack, where have you been man? They have been out since 2005! Well the Freestyle was 2005-2007 and the Taraus X from 2008-2009
The last day of production for the Taurus X was on February 27, 2009.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taurus_X#cite_note-3) It is to be officially replaced by the Ford Explorer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Explorer), itself morphing into a crossover for 2010.

Kinda like when GM made a Lumina car and Lumina APV van. They got lazy and ran out of names.

The wife got a 2006 Ford Freestyle Limited in Jan 06. The name was changed to Taurus X in the 2008 run and the 3.0L Duratek was bumped to a 3.5L. The Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) was replaced by a 6-speed automatic. Front grill is different as are the rear taillights. I really like the Freestyle because it is a very versatile vehicle that is comfortable, handles well and can haul a bunch of cargo. Seats 7 in 3 rows and can reconfigure in seconds. Gets about 26-27 MPG on the highway on 87 Regular. We have taken several long trips in it and it is comfortable and moves out very well. I didn't think that the 3.0L was underpowered -- but of course I didn't think it was a sports car either. The CVT takes a little getting used too because it has no shift points.

I bought my wife a Black 2005 Freestyle Limited AWD when they first were introduced. She Loved the car and had the car for 360 days when it was severely T Boned by a Honda Pilot. The car is built on a Volvo safety frame which took the impact and saved her life. The car was severely damaged and took $18,000 and six months to fix, but 10 years ago it would have been totalled. The insurance companys refused to total it. It was literally taken apart and put back together and the Warranty was voided. We traded it after we got it back because I refused to put my family in a 1 year old vehicle with a bad Carfax report and a voided warranty which now runs and feels like crap. The worst part is that we had a big loss in the trade because the car was not even worth what they paid to fix it, and the other driver was completely at fault. We did Love and recommend it, Nice Vehicle.

P.S. Buy Gap insurance.

The Freestyle/Taurus X is the stationwagon versiion of the Taurus. I never understood why this car wasnt a bigger hit, its been replaced by that flat top wagon they make now.
