My neighbor has a 2003 Ford Explorer Limited that shows a "door ajar" warning light. However, the doors are shut and locked down but the message still appears! Is there a switch we should look at or other place to get this message to cancel?

In my 97's the door ajar switch is in side the door attatched to the latch. Mine too would always say door ajar. When I installed speakers i just unplugged it. I think the switch is part of the latch and can not be bought seperately. Don't know if this info is relevant for an 03 but worth a shot.

Check the rear hatch/window.
Is the interior/cabin light on as well?
Sometimes the latch in the rear gets a little "sticky".

My expedition used to have that problem. I little WD40 in the latch would free it up and make it go out. Same problem in an F250.

The switch is in the latch. It can be replaced separately. Like someone else stated you can spray wd 40 in the latches. Do all of them and open and close the doors a few times. That will turn the light off. Switches are not too bad to replace. Latch can be left in the door. The switches just twist and remove no screws or anything.
