I've heard about this along with legislation on ammunition. Unfortunately the anti gun knuts have the run of the Congress now. They are completely clueless that these mentally unbalanced laws will only mean open season on law abiding citizens by the criminals who do whatever they please to begin with. Draconian firearms laws have not worked in England or Australia. Do they honestly believe they will work here? The sad fact of the matter is it recently took me 5 weeks to purchase, license and obtain a recent addition to my collection. Any mutt could go to the southside of Syracuse, NY and obtain a illegal firearm in under a hour.

These hairbrained ideas aren't making it any better.

Along with gun control, we'll see the death of performance cars. And tax increases galore.

Oh yeah, you're young enough to be carrying the load for the bailouts while I'm in retirement. Thanks!

You know - I am not even going to put up resistance anymore to our horrible government. We bail out AIG who pays their brass with OUR money to thank them. Their contractual obligation was void when they ran out of their money to give away. This Country will be spanish-speaking in about 5 years and there is nothing we can say about it - they won't understand your English. We will build electric and hybrid cars that are "better" for the environment - the car will last about 10 years compared to 50's and 60's iron that lasts 60 years and leaves a tiny carbon footprint by ratio. Terrorists can walk across our border and bring anything they can carry - citizens get the rubber glove if they want a carry permit for weapons. And finally we are taxed for our entire lives for social security which will not be there when we need it- why? The 20 million that will get amnesty will absorb it like a sponge. I give up - it ain't worth being angry 24/7 anymore. Ted Nugent for president 2012!

Obama has said and done a couple things I agree with and I give him credit for that. But he nominated Holder for Attourney (spellcheck) General and should have slapped him after he called us a nation of cowards when it comes to racism. He should have fired him after mking rediculous claims like the only way to control Mexico's gun/drug/violence problem is by clamping down on OUR 2nd Amendment rights. Drug warlords with millions possibly billions of dollars are going to come here and buy "assult type looking" weapons and then try and sneak them back across the border? Really? All they can afford are single shot type AR-15's that look "assaulty"? Give me a break, they have machine guns, RPG's, full auto pistols, you name it. MY 2nd Amendment rights have nothing to do with freakin' Mexico!!

Get your head out of the sand. Feds now control the banking system and are trying to get even more control. They are hand picking the board for GM yet Obama says he doesn't want to run it. He has taken over the census bureau so that he can shape future elections. He is closing Getmo and possibly brining the terrorist here (because no other country will take them). Since congress can vote themselves a raise, they need to make sure everything is fair. Here we go, they're considering setting pay caps for ALL employees of any company that has or will receive bailout money. It's retroactive and supercedes all existing contracts. I wonder how many new government jobs will need to be crreated to do salary reviews of the employees of all these companies.

2 years from now the Oxygen Tax will be implemented. We will all wear heartbeat monitors like joggers wear. Based on figures not available to the public, you will be taxed on how many breathes you take based on your monthly BPM's. (Beats Per Minute) If you are fairly healthy and aren't huffing like a freight train just from moving your ass from the couch to the fridge, you can "trade" or "sell" your remaining BPM's to others, like they do with emissions caps. Sound too crazy to be true? You should check out the list of investors pouring money into these devices.

The housing collapse started the whole mess, and were all in it together. yes the dems have come up with some hairbrian ideas, but there again look what GW did a million or more a day in Iraq???? what the! oh and with the new Obama Budget he will be spending more$ than evry other pres from George Washington to George Busch junior

Unfortunately, he's not in power anyway. He's a puppet just like GW and Clinton before him. The real power is in the hands of the Fed and the international bankers. How many of you know that the Federal Reserve is NOT a government agency? The Federal Reserve is as federal as Federal Express. It is a private, for-profit bank. They create (print) money LITERALLY out of thin air and loan it to the United States on interest. Guess who pays that interest? Did you know that every dollar collected from the federal income tax goes directly to pay for that interest? If we were to eliminate the federal income tax today, the total revenue the govt recieved via other "legal" taxes would egual the federal budget of 1997. Not too shabby. Do you think that "extra" money in everyone's pocket would stimulate the economy? Um, YUP!
O is right about one thing, things will definitely get worse before they get better.
I urge you all to watch The Obama Deception. You can watch it free on Youtube. After that, go visit Alex Jones on infowars.com and/or prisonplanet.com. Wake up America and take your country back!

The words catastrophization and demonization keep popping into my head.

With all of the gun and ammo price gouging and hoarding, I think of the lost young man in the city with a lackluster education, an unregistered pistol, a half a box of ammo, and an unclear path ahead of him. Then I think of the slightly older, less urban man with a variety of guns, high-capacity magazines, and stockpiles of ammo insistent that his freedoms are in jeopardy. I'm having trouble these days identifying who is more stable. Or dangerous.

As a gun owner and outdoors enthusiast, I wonder who is portraying my interests to the public, how level-headed they are, and how the general public views them.

its only been a little over 100 days
During FDR's New Deal, the first 100 days was only the creation and passing of bills. It took years for the policies to fully take effect. When people ask why nothing is getting better yet, I don't understand why they think an economic catastrophe would be solved in such a short timespan. Seems like some are being more emotional that rational. I don't agree with Obama on every policy, but I'm going to give him more than 1700 hours to develop and enact policies. And much longer for them to take effect.

I'm shocked that people are stating they want their President to fail. I wouldn't have stated that for any previous President in my lifetime, and the only Presidents I can imagine I would have said that for before my lifetime would be thoughts that were some combination of anti-civil rights and pro-slavery.

Even as a young person, I can plainly see how horrible this administration is for our country. I don't blame Obama alone, just like I wouldn't blame Bush alone for things that have happened the past eight years. Don't forget that while he was in office, for a time there WAS a democratic controlled congress, I firmly believe that things are worse now because that same radical democratic congress is still making ideas but are actually getting them through because they have a puppet in the seat of the Presidency.

These radical politicians are nothing more to me than greedy self-serving individuals, who are flat BRILLIANT at marketing. Why do you think so much of the young population is pro-Obama? There was a wide-spread belief that he would take from the rich and give to the poor, which I can truly say is most young people (I know at least in my own case as a full-time college student and part-time worker I make no where near enough to sustain myself without some form of help, which I've been blessed enough to get from family.) I think the have-nots are a very large percentage of this country, or at least people that feel they are have-nots. All the sudden, not even 100 days into this term, people become disillusioned to the fact that he isn't really helping anyone but crooks, and has built up a cabinet of crooks and criminals. The biggest reason I was never on-board with his robin hood plan is because where most people felt short logically, I realized that "hey, even if I get money now, maybe build serious wealth, at some point I too will have to surrender it to others much like I was that most likely did not deserve it."

I must say though, the thing that truly made me scared of what kind of unlimited power they are trying to take is when they proposed taking over the banks and the money. If the government has control of the money directly, I think we're officially ****ed.

Iunno, I wanna have hope for this country, but i think too many people are too complacent to stand for what's really worth it any more.

Random thought: all this talk of 2012, weren't there a few end-of-the-world prophecies tied around the year 2012? Just thinking.....

We are not a Nation founded on democracy, and I don't know why we continue to try and spread democracy around the globe to places that could really care less. We were founded as a Republic, by the people, for the people. One has to look no further than the Pledge of Allegiance:
"I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the.....REPUBLIC ...for which it stands, blah blah blah. MF'ers need to realize this: I don't try and stifle your 1st Amendment rights, so back off my 2nd Amendment rights.

I agree. The Constitution is much more than a "GD piece of paper", as GW stated. We, as American citizens, have rights as laid out in the Constitution for the United States. Those rights are, and have been, slowly and meticulously stripped away. O is just doing his part. When he starts standing up for the Constitution, then I'll start cheering for his success. Until then, boo. Government has become to large. We need to put it back into it's box, "one tenticle at a time." As Jefferson said, A government big enough to give you everything you need, is big enough to take everything you have.

Ammo is being purchased so fast now that supplier's are constantly sold out. I hope none of the bills will effect gun owners prior to any bills. I'm not sure what you mean by this but, I do know that HR 45 is a real threat to the 2nd Amendment. Even if only part of it gains acceptance in the legislature the long term objectives of gun control advocates can be accomplished, and have been happening, incrementally (and they know this). They are more than willing to get there a little bit at a time. I'm doing what I can to oppose them every step of the way.

If you throw a frog (this is not an endorsment of frog boiling, btw) into a pot of boiling water, he will jump right out. However, if you place him in tepid water and gradually increase the heat, he will sit there until he's dead and boiled.

Heard a good analogy about catching wild pigs too.

HR 45 IS a real threat. Especially because of it's timing and where it came from. It comes from the same political cess pool as Obama, Emanuel, and Blagojevich.

Some really good posts guys. What I like about this thread the most is that it is staying pretty civil. Very emotional topic. Can't be helped with namecalling and fingerpointing and as of yet I don't see much of that. Lets be sure to keep it civil here...remember we are all on the same team...and keep posting your interesting, well thought out, diverse opinions!

God Bless America!

There's nothing we can do now. Obama is already building his secret UN Army as we speak thats why hes sending all of the American troops overseas. We'll be forced to hand over our weapons or be shot. The government is intentionally killing the dollar off to enforce their so called new world order in which the world has 1 form of currency and 1 superior government. Hey guys remember this name when you finally here it in the publicity "NORTH AMERICAN UNION". It will be the end of America and our liberties.

Thank you!!
As a young person myself I had just about lost all hope in our generation. I agree with your analyzation and I am against democratic policies moreso than I am against most politicians (Most all are shady characters regardless of party). I am not about to play into all the hype of losing my gun rights, because let's face it, even the NRA has to create and use propaganda and sell it to the as many people as they can, they are after all, politically motivated. I am not an NRA member for that reason and proud to say that. Some of the NRA's gripes are legit and I agree with some, but sometimes they are just off the deep end. I do believe however as far as gun rights they are the best and only political protector of the second ammendment. In the end, it is still up to the people to preserve the rights when politics fail, which these days seems to be more often than not. Take politics out of the equation and we are the greatest country in the world; put them back in, it tears us apart.....truely sad.

I have enough weaponry to outfit a decent size army, it is getting to the point I almost need a seprate building to store them. Politics aside, if anyone tried to take my guns from me, even my best friend, that would be a bad, very bad decision on their part.
