Maybe a bad cd in the changer or an empty slot in the cartridge?

check you connections at the radio and at the cd changer

Dunno??

Have you tried ejecting the cartridge then reinstall?

Not sure if the door has to be closed on the changer or not?

Mike.

I have a similar problem once in awhile in my other car which has a changer in the trunk. It will come up with ERROR. Usually if I make sure all the CDs are properly seated in their trays (proper side up) and the trays are properly inserted into the magazine, it will clear the error. If that doesn't work, there may be a malfunction in the trunk unit. I have not had that problem on the MM however I HAVE had the trunk unit screw up playback if the temperatures are too high in the trunk.

Yea that will work until i cut the car off and back on and it will work if i stay on CDDJ but if i switch for the 6disk to the single and back the 6disk i get the ERROR. Hope that makes sence:confused:

It doesn't matter how many discs are in the changer but all the trays should be in the magazine. I doubt the door needs to be closed but it should be anyway for dust. Try putting the magazine in and out a few times.

My single CD up front stopped working sometime last year so I've been using the cd changer and every once in a while it will come up with ERROR. I just go back eject the magazine and put it back and it works fine.

I have the same problem with mine, though not necessarily when switching from CD to CDDJ. It can also happen when switching from the radio. What sucks is that it happens while driving, and then you can't use the CDDJ until you stop the car, get out, eject and reinsert the cartridge and get back in the drivers seat.

What I've started doing is immediately after switching to CDDJ, I hit the Tune button on the radio to switch to a different CD. This forces the changer to swap the disks, reloading a CD 'properly'. I think what may be happening is while the changer is not in use, the currently loaded CD or CD tray gets shifted out of proper alignment or whatever, so when it tries to play it, it's a no go.
You have to perform this trick quickly, since you only get a few seconds before the CDDJ error appears, and then you're out of luck. I stopped using the steering wheel control, and now use the CD button on the head unit so that my fingers are ready to hit the Tune button right away.

I had that problem with the OEM changer too. Cycling the cartridge out and back in usually fixed it. I think its sensitive to outside temp too as it happened more often when cold out.

That said, my current aftermarket Pioneer changer has NEVER had ANY problems.

Verdict? OEM changer = cr@p

I have the same problem from time to time. I have started taking the canned air and blowing it out every once in a while. I also have a CD lens cleaner in the stack that I routinely run to keep the lens clean. Since I have started that no porblems with it.

Mine was finnicky to Mike..... What sucks is when you want to listen to that ONE song on CD 4, and it says error, adn you cant pull over to fix the changer!!

The CD changer is not communicating with your 3:55 gears and your computer sees it has 4:10's.
Good luck

This is the error I'm having. I take the cartridge out of the changer and it works for awhile before the error code comes back. I'll try spraying for dust also.

I tried the air duster. Problem didn't take long to come back. I'll try the lens cleaner.
