What is the electrical modual under the hood next to the hood latch ?
What is it,s puruse ?

Interesting understanding it's a air bag sensor. I would think they would use some type of device that would compress under load to trigger the air bags. I would love to see what's inside of the modual.

Probably an accelerometer. I imagine the orientation of the module is critical to its proper operation.

Mechanical crash sensors have a metal ball that is released by the force of the crash to close a switch. Some newer ones are solid state with a piezo sensor. Not sure which we have...

Probably nothing since the safing sensor built into the RCM also has to be tripped at the same time to prevent just such an accidental deployment from happening. Now, two well timed hits...different story!
