Today was a beautiful day to change plugs in Silverback so I went to my local FLAPS and low and behold what did I see, a Doom spark plug change kit.

I quickly bought it up and I must say it's easy to use, all the tools, plugs and food are there. I left a couple of ribs for show, but I ate the rest.

Pat, where did you use the breaker bar?

Pat, where did you use the breaker bar?

Although I torque the plugs to 15 ft lbs, it seems as time goes by the two plugs on the back side of the head, either bank, get much tighter.

More than my meager strengh can break loose. So with the aid of the breaker bar they pop loose with just a little effort and saves me the agony of banging my hands on the protruding hardware.

Pat, be careful. The factory spec for sparkplug torque is 11 ftlbs. You don't want to strip the threads in the head.

BTW.. you did use some antisieze right?

Right, Honda (my son's employer) markets a real good AS product and I lightly coat the threads on the lower half.

The rearmost plugs take on water and corrode the threads, thus the need for the breaker bar.

Here's a photo of the plugs, need more light, raining outside now.

Didn't note any water corrosion.

Need some silicone on the coil wire harness where it goes under the coil cover.
