Here's the real owner ... stopped by to visit my daughter.

I actually like the color combination on this one. However, not enough to trade my Marauder in the least. This Smart Car will only see city duty in DC and Alexandria, VA. From a parking standpoint -- that probably makes it a winner. Sitting inside it -- you kinda forget that there is nothing up front or in the rear.

Charlie, I was worried for a minute. I thought you were still bugg'in about the wox job. My friend has a "smart car". He told me it takes him about 30 minutes to fill the tank. Not because it takes a lot of gas, it's because he spends the other 28 minutes answering questions from everyone at the pumps.

He stands about 5'11'', 225 lbs and loves his car.

It is not mine. One of my daughter's girlfriends bought it as their commuter car for city duty. She stopped by today since we have the gang here for Easter dinner with some of their friends. The Smart Car seems like a bumper car to me ... except smaller. ;) It actually has some cool features. On the drop top version, the top side rails detach and are stored in a rear panel.

Looks like it would be a prefect fit in the Marauder trunk.

You joke, but guess how mine came to be sold? The owners were going to start traveling alot and wanted something smaller than a Marauder to tow behind thier Motorcoach. They bought a Suzuki Samari or Sidekick, one of those two. Thier loss.;)

When I read the title of the thread, you scared me Charlie...

With that paint scheme it kinda looks like a pair of suspenders that you WEAR the car with!

P.S. Does it have floorboards like a 'FLINTSTONE MOBILE'??

sorry. its pretty gay. i would not trust that little turdmobile as a safe car. i dont care what the crash test ratings say. id rather drive a 2 mile per gallon fullsize car and be protected and do more damage to the other vehicle.

Saw one on the NYS Thruway last week and wondered if a 18 wheeler ran it over, would the driver even know he hit something? Seriously though, I question the safety of these for interstate travel. I get a little worried at times in the Evil Orb on the T-Way, and that is considerably larger and heavier.

When this thing pulled up in the driveway behind my Marauder, I decided to have a bit of fun. Guess that I was more curious than anything about the Smart Car. I have seen a couple on the road; but this was my first time to get a close up examination of the little guy. I just couldn't imagine driving it out on the Northern Virginia roads with all the idiots out there. The body panels are plastic and completely removable so you can change out the color of the car if you want.

And .... NO -- I did NOT get rid of my Marauder. It is still safe & sound where it belongs.

Charlie,
Whatever you do, NEVER get in an accident with a Smart Car! Latest testing shows how bad the little dudes fare -- VERY poorly!

Yup, for sure.

"In crash tests released Tuesday, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that drivers of 2009 versions of the Smart "fortwo," Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris could face significant leg and head injuries in severe front-end crashes with larger, mid-size vehicles....In the fortwo collision, the institute said the Smart, which weighs 1,808 lbs, went airborne and turned around 450 degrees after striking the C Class, which weighs nearly twice as much. There was extensive damage to the fortwo's interior and the Smart driver could have faced extensive injuries to the head and legs. There was little damage to the front seat area of the C Class."

Seriously? Why?

A brother Marauaderer finds footprints up and down his car, and people freak. But the thought of flipping someone elses car on it's side amuses you?

+1 on that... Try the left lane of 495 in the afternoon.

Yep, I can vouch for that... Saw you yesterday (4ish?) going south on Rte-1 through the Telegraph Road intersection, as I was turning left on Old Colchester to has some fun on the twisties with the new P71...

Don't think that it was around 4:00 PM yesterday. I didn't leave the office until 5:00 PM or a little after yesterday.

Traffic on Route 1 South has been worse that usual since last Thursday -- all 4 lanes wall-to-wall. Probably wouldn't have seen you on the left coming out of Old Colchester because I am more worried about the cars making a right on Red from Telegraph onto Route 1 South without looking or stopping. I had a real close call there about a year or so ago when some idiot came out and turned right into the 2nd lane --- mine. Almost stood the MM on its nose. ;)

Haven't been on Old Colchester in a while. There is one hill-dip that you can catch some air and experience some negative g's -- :D

I may be mistaken about the time, but it was definitely you da day. ;)

The big hill on Old Colchester was smoothed down a few years ago after another DEADLY accident... It is still a fun road though. Take care Charlie!
