Yeah... but a smaller jet.
Ahhhh life under pressure!!!
I'll start on the tear down this weekend and see where it leads!
I could just throw in the motor I got and be on the road in no time.... but I don't see the sense in that.
Let's see where my cash is in a month or so.

Like a FREIGHT train, John!!!
Lidio told me my injectors were maxxed and to "take it easy".... I did not listen, as I knew that I would hit it hard one day... figured close to home would be the best time to try it out.
Nate, not the 3.0.... I ran a 3.0 for over 2 years with no issues.

39# injectors maxed at 460rwhp? Uh, no.
Rich, I guarantee your car did not leave the shop with the power you think it was making. I think you suffered from a little bad luck, thats all.

Just curious, if Lidio told you it was going to happen what WAS your A/F ratio set at? Mine is 14.64 at 11.5lbs of boost I am told that this is very safe for the amount of boost that I am running.

Good deal man, that was a scary number you posted :D
Rich, do you think adding the ported blower created a higher air flow causing the need for more fuel? Or did you have a vacuum leak causing unmetered air? I know I had a vacuum leak all last year. Wheat (Springfield Motorsports Tuner) made adjustments to my tune to compensate for the issue. Chris removed the blower last week and found more oil in the intake. The JTL pre-filter and oil catch can is now installed and should make a difference. I would be interested to see what your intake looks like.

Sucks to hear you blew up your motor. I wish I was having as much fun as you probably were when I blew up the 5.0 in my old Lincoln. It blew up while I was pulling out into traffic on a 25mph residential. Down for 9 months because 1) I didn't have the means to swap out a motor at home, & 2) I hired and idiot to do the work (unknowingly at the time). Good luck on the rebuild! :-)

Yes. That's what is believed, therefore the need for bigger injectors at the HP level I was at.
No Vac leaks that I'm aware of.
I'll take lots of pics!

My bad,Guess my old pot stirring ways are still with me.Best of luck with your rebuild. You and John go through motors like I go through woman even though I think I have found the right one this time.
I have found with my Eaton conversion that there is slight detonation after the 2-3 shift when the load drastically increases.
If the timing tables are not perfect, detonation occurs. Ive been trying to sort it out for a few weeks now and Im still not done.
Here are the cliff notes:
Ive been to almost 10 tuners across the country and ive always had some kind of detonation somewhere in the powerband after leaving the dyno.
A dyno tune just CANT simulate the actual driving conditions, period.
Sure you can just back the timing off across the board a whole lot, but whats the point? I want every possible degree of timing where I can stuff it in.

I would have loved to have been data logging when this hapened. It would have shed some light on things.
I have been wondering if it would be possible to have a constant logging system. Maybe a small data storage computer constantly recording while you drive.
Just thinking.

Tell me more about a liveWire or full time data logger. Are they the same thing ? Do you simply plug these into the USB port under the steering colum? Other than air fuel ratio what else dose this monitor ?

He did it on purpose so he could get a new motor. I bet Michelle does not know the whole story; don't worry I wont tell....for a price. ;)

Zack,
Isn't this why some of the tuners are pulling the check valves out of the fuel system? (2-3 shift detonation)
FordNut
04-14-2009, 10:34 AM
I believe it's for a hesitation or bogging on shifts, not detonation.
A dyno tune just CANT simulate the actual driving conditions, period.
Sure you can just back the timing off across the board a whole lot, but whats the point? I want every possible degree of timing where I can stuff it in.
You should see what a pain it is to get a good turbo tune on a 4500 car. The dyno tuning can't even get close to the way the turbo loads on the street. It's all about the street tune.
rayjay
04-15-2009, 06:15 AM
IIRC, Lidio also does really world street tunes, for a price of course.
