I hate the fact that the transmissions dont have drain plugs :mad2: so i was wondering would it be a good idea to add a drain plug on the "nipple" (lowest part) of the trans pan? Has anyone ever done this?:help:

Why to the work when you can get a Ford "truck" pan that already has it installed?

E350 pan, for 4.6 motor, your local dealership has it or can order it.

Get an Art Carr Deep trans pan, increases the fluid holding and has the drain plug in it.
Don't flame me but I bought mine from Reinhart, comes with new filter and correct bolt hole plugged for 4R70W use.

That is what I'd do.

I bought a deep cast aluminum pan and it made NO DIFFERENCE in fluid temps!!!:shake:
It takes a little longer to reach operating temp because of the extra 2 quarts or so but I wouldn't waste the money on one when the Econoline pan can be had with a drain for $80.00 or so!!
Spend your $$$'s elsewhere!!:D

'jack is right. This car has a thermostatically-controlled cooler, so a finned aluminium pan will basically just give you the extra capacity, not extra cooling.

That's the main reason why I bought mine for the extra capacity and the drain plug.
Just changed out 5 quarts of trans fluid this weekend, how I love the drain plug.
Why would anyone order a $45 pan with a drain plug when you can put one in yourself for $5.00 and drill one lousy hole?
