Back when I wasn't making much loot I tested that thing all the time. Almost weekly I would say. Not sure how much mileage I got wonce it came on but I know it was a good stretch.

About thirty for me as well, and really sweat the last 10 or so.

Have you ever pumped in 18.8 gallons? I have.

Mine has only lit once or twice in 5+ years. I rarely let it get below 1/4 tank and get antsy when it gets close to 1/8 tank. Playing "Chicken" with the low fuel light ain't one of the games on my entertainment agenda. The most that I have ever put in was about 17 gallons.

I ran it so far below E one time, it sucked the sag outta the middle of my back bumper. :D

Like a lot of you , I get uncomfortable at 1/4 tank. The first 1/2 tank takes it's time. For example, I filled it on Sunday. Drove 8-10 miles back from the station. Put 44 miles on it today and yet the gauge reads full. But that last 1/4 drains like a sieve. The yellow light has come on twice. I drove about 15 miles to get to the gas station. Don't ever want to find out what I could get away with. But I'd be interested in someone else doing the research.;)

I've gone 50 miles with the light on. Wouldn't try it now, fuel mileage isn't what it used to be.

My old MGM would light up the low fuel warning when the remaining distance-to-empty was 80 kms, which usually meant about 12 litres remaining. I always assumed the MM was the same (tested twice so far, with no real numbers).

Consensus here is that the low fuel light comes on with about 1.5 to 2 gallons left in the tank. For me, that is only about 24-30 miles during daily driving. On the highway, its more like 37-49 miles.

Like some others, I usually never go below a quarter of a tank.

I have gone to E before, i was able to drive to and from school on empty (about 14 miles)

Isnt it bad to run on E, like the fuel cools the fuel pump or something?

Doesn't the gas keep the fuel pump cool/cold?? running near empty all of the time will kill the fuel pump a lot faster. yes?

I empty mine regularly and haven't killed a pump yet.

I pumped 19.2 right after I first got it, was I PO'd, I told the station manager a few things about, quantity certification. Probably my fault, I must have filled the fill tube all the way. BTW 30 miles is it then my balls run out, I'm old and can't push 4400 lbs. very far.

I thought that we had a 19 gallon tank. Even with the filler neck, I'd suspect that the calibration of the pump was off. Purely unintentional, of course. :D

I'd be worried about clogging up the sock on the pump with the crap in the bottom of the tank letting it get that low. Lowest I've ever let it go was 1/8 on a road trip.

Never seen the orange light myself. 1/4 tank is as low as I go.
