Alrighty then... THis morning coming home from work I noticed the ride was hella rough. Got home and then the wife took the car, she called me on the way in and said that the air ride dummy light was on and the car was riding like crap. I got the car home and the dummy light was off. But the car is still sitting way low. Is there a way to check the compressor? Where is the compressor? Is there a way to adjust the ride hieghth temporarily to keep it from riding so rough? WHy me?
Thanks,
Hack

the air compressor is under the air box
If you have an air compressor you could inflate the air bags, not positive why your compressor is dead, unless it is just.. dead

Okay found the ride hieght sensor. It was a little of kilter and loose but was not off. I put it on correctly and restarted the car. Nothing. I flipped the switch a gajillion times and restarted the car, nothing. Will it throw a code if the compressor is dead?

It will not throw a code if your compressor is dead. Time for a replacement compressor. I went through this a month ago.

If you really want a 100% fool proof way of testing your compressor, put it in your wifes DTR :D

Okay, I am pressed for time in my trouble shooting, sooo.... Rather than switching out the compressor, should I just switch out the ride hieght adjustment domajabber and see if that kicks the compressor on?

I told her. She is stubborn. She basically didnt want me touching her car. She thinks I'll break it. She knows me too well.

A little update... the dealership called me this morning and said that they wouldn't feel comfortable replacing the compressor without first diagnosing the problem first. And they wanted to get my permission to do that first. It would take a couple hours (in dealer speak thats a couple days) at $101 per hour to diagnose. I said no and limped her home. The new compressor is already ordered. I'll figure this out, I mean how hard can it be right??

I have it narrowed down to the compressor. I'm going to take this opportunity to switch out the shocks as well. Seeing as how they are both puking oil out the bottom now anyway. Anybody got any suggestions for good rear shocks?

Hey, no problem!
It's just crazy how everyone's air suspension pumps started dying around the same time.
Mine went out just as I was leaving for Pittsburgh last Friday. I got about 20 miles from home and I got the dreaded "air suspension" light. I limped home and had to take the wife's minivan :(. I was stuck driving my 1998 Crown Vic for a few days here in town until the pump arrived. Just like Hack said, the install was easy and I was so relieved when I seen my Marauder's booty rise when I turned the key.

She is all better now. Took her over into St. Louis and strolled around for a bit this evening. It must have been going out for a bit becuase with the new compressor the car rides like a dream. It used to be really bumpy and rough.
