Sorry, but that is a customized 1955 DeSoto grille in that Merc, here's a link to a 1950 Merc with the original grille in it,the 1949 grille was similar and the 1951 had tow "Dagmars" in it.It's gotten to see a 49-51 Merc that hasn't been customized and turned into a lead sled so a lot of people think these grilles are the originals.

1951 Mercury with stock grille and bumper guards in front of the "Dagmars".

http://www.greaterdakotaclassics.com/carpages/50_merc_ratty.htm Ok, I didn't know that the grill in the Merc was stolen from a DeSoto. I knew someone out there would know. I just stole it from that Merc, and slapped it on a Marauder for the heck of it. Thanks for the info UncleLar.

No problem,I had a 53 DeSoto with the 276 Hemi and a Fluid Drive automatic with a clutch and a steering wheel so big looked like it came out of a 1950's bus when I was 17,and my father had a drop dead gorgeous 51 Merc two door,Emerald Green with a white canvas(?) top and white leather interior and Smitty's mufflers and dual exhaust he gave my older sister for a wedding present when I was 10.Darn that was a pretty car and it sounded SO good with that flat motor in it.

It also had the Hemi and Fluid Drive. It was a hoot. If I remember correctly, it had something like a "super low" gear. It was a fun "dating" car. ;)
