Today, the wish of an 80 year old car nut was fulfilled--EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT !!!!!!!! I sucessfully completed 10 laps of the NASCAR Texas Motor Speedway at speeds reaching 150 mph. The program is run by the TeamTexas High Performance Driving School. The picture tells it all. The car is a fully operational NASCAR Sprint car, with all the horsepower up front and not modified, except for a 150 mph speed limiter--no restrictor plate ---and I was in the driver's seat !! I haven't come down yet, but, I'll tell you, it's one wonderful feeling. I started in pole position and was not passed til the 9th lap--caused by my missing a cue and backing off the throttle momentarily, letting the car 3 car lengths behind me pass. Not bad for an OLD MAN. I wish all of you could do this -- it makes you respect the drivers--after the finish of the race today at Talledaga, you really get some idea of the strength and power of these cars. I have a CD made from a dash cam but I have no idea how to upload it--it's about 8 min long. Well, gotta to come down off my high and get some sleep--busy week ahead:):burnout::beer::bows::) Maury

What an experience for you, Maury! Maybe Magindat or TooManyFords could host the video for you. Now that's an exciting way to spend your Sunday! :cheer:

Congrats, Maury. :2thumbs: Sounds like that was a real treat. Bet it was hard to come into the pit area on that 10th lap. So how did that #38 M&M's car feel in the corners?

Maury, that's awesome you got to run at TMS. Team Texas is great, been there a few times myself and am planning to go for the night run this year. If you didn't go for a ride with a pro, try that sometime, it's a completely different experience (governor is set a tad higher for them and they almost rub when changing positions!).

Like you say, it gives you tremendous insight into what the drivers are dealing with on the track during the race. Imagine the speeds they're running combined with the race traffic!

I look forward to seeing you again so we can compare notes.
