I am planning on getting the aero exhaust mufflers, but I just want to know wheather I should get them with the delete tips or not. I am not looking to blow out my ear drums, but I also see no point in getting better mufflers without an increase in sound. I know I have read that they are not really that much louder. Just looking for opinions thanks.

GET THEM! trust me im picky about mufflers and i LOVE these. they are QUIETER at cruise but louder from about 1000 to 3500 rpms which is perfict. then it seems to fade out. i also had 4 inch deletes put on.

If you want nice throaty sound get your 2nd set of cats deleted, the Aero 2525 mufflers and res-delete tips. For ImpalaSlayer to say he likes his exhaust it must sound good cause we bounced exhaust setups around for a long time since he was so picky. Since living in CA I don't know if you could get away with the 2nd set of cats missing but you could get 2.5" mid pipe and then get some 2.5" piping for over the axles from mufflers to tips. That will help the flow and sound.

You can get away with it because the inspections techs are taught to look for cats.... Not how many , just cats. One per side w/ dual exhaust and one w/ single exhaust.

Removing the 2nd set of cats will not harm your MM.

In fact, going to get my MM inspected today..... only one cat per side. Usually the techs get so excited when I arrive they fight over who gets to inspect the MM.... then I think they do a half-a$$ed job.

He lives in CA, not sure how their emissions inspections are handled, that's why I said "might" but yeah their trained to look for them but not how many.

I don't think removing the cats will be noticed, when I got smogged all they did was plug my car in and told me to wait 10 minutes. I took a walk around the block and it was waiting for me when I returned. The guy doing the tests started asking me a bunch of questions about the car, like did it come with that engine?, what is it?...etc.
I did plan on getting the 2nd set of cats removed at some point, so I guess getting the delete tips would be a good idea... You see thats why I am a memeber, it cuts the amount of wrong decisions in half, thanks.

Yeah and getting rid of the 2nd set of cats won't throw a code if you have a stock tune since the 2nd set of cats sit behind the 2nd set of O2 sensors.

AS you are in Kalifornia, long ago 1972/3 when I was there Inspection techs told me they had a diagram of every stock exhaust and any changes were illegal. As you know with the changes in 1996 they just may look at the results but ..... heck it is your money.
That bieng said delete tips look just like the OEM...

lots of luck:beer::beer::beer:

Alright I like to put out the fact that I don't know anything about cars before I ask questions sometimes, just so I get as little flack as possible, though I do expect some. So here goes. I bough the tips that aero exhaust sells and I will buy the mufflers in a few weeks. I know most of you kept the factory tips, but I figured I might as well try to be a little different. I realized that I am going to need some extra length to connect the mufflers to the tips (ya, obviouse I know) can I go to a a muffler place to get extra pipe or is that something that I am going to have to get from somehwere else? It's late so if I am not getting my question across well, please forgive me I just got off work and I need sleep.

Nope that's something that the muffler shop should be able to take care of for you.
