Second time this has happened since I changed my fuel filter (which is OEM and pointed in the right direction). First time was right before Ennis trip after changing filter, disconnected battery and light came on for the second time this morning after starting vehicle and has been on ever since. Runs fine but seems a lil sluggish or it could be my imagination. Someone told me to let Auto Zone install scanner and will tell me what's up and this is a free service. What do ya'll think, anyone else has experieced this condition after changing fuel filter?????

I Had the light come on the way home from Marauderville,(last day) and it was nothing more the the fuel cap not being tight?
If Auto Zone will scan then you have nothing to loose?

This past week it got cold here in NJ (frost) and when I went to start my car it shut right off. Restarted and it kept shutting off unless I kept my foot on the gas about 1800 rpm ( I hated to do this with engine cold). Then the check eng light came on. After about 30 seconds it stopped stalling out but the light stayed on. I scanned it at work but the ecm would not talk to my scanner unless I turned off the light with the scanner then everything was fine except I never got to see what code it was since all I could do is clear the code. I pulled the Rienhardt chip out and cleaned connection then put it back in. It did it again the next day but not as bad and no light. I see this problem is not going away easy. I will have to try starting cold with no chip installed to see if it is chip related.
I will keep you posted.

I'd say take it in to the dealer

I've used Auto Zone to read the OBD codes before. Handy to figure out what is wrong. But, you still have to fix the problem and go to the dealer. Might be quicker to just let the dealer fix the problem.
I'd check the gas cap to make sure.

Took MM into Auto Zone for a quick diagnosis and came up with trouble code PO456 (Evaporation Emission Control System) malfunction. Where in the Helms service manual does it discuss diagnosing trouble code. I can't find it anywhere.. HELP!!! Is there a seperate manual on this????

Maybe the gas bib is keeping hte cap from closing?
Call me I have the Ford Man on DVD, but I don't have a DVD Rom. You can borrow mine. I think you said your Computer has a DVD Rom.

I checked on the web and it either a low pressure problem or a leak in the system. I'd remove the gas bib, make sure that the cap is tight and see whether it goes away over time. My understanding is that it will take a number of starts to correct itself assuming this is the problem.
Also, check the filter to make sure it is clamped properly. The small leak is VERY small and maybe this is the cause.
If this does not fix it, go to the dealer.

PS-here is what I found:
P0456 Very small Leak Detected. Tighten the cap!

This code only comes up if the car is repainted
