Didn't read the article, but I'm buying a new F-150 probably next week. If they give me a good price. I know I can get $15k off the sticker, so that's where the dealing begins.

The only things at Government Motors that interest me are the Camaro and Corvette. And I have no room for one, and no $$ for the other. Chrysler . .. well, I do like those Challengers more and more. If they re-vamped a 'Cuda . . . I could go for that.

But right now, F-150. No doubts.

They SHOULD, but the more likely scenario is to do more to prop up Government Motors and raise taxes on the companies that have been succesful to support the losers.

There's an old saying that "No Good Deed goes Unpunished". Seems to fit here. Another old saying of "Screw Up and Move Up" seems to apply as well.

I would think that Ford's Anti-Trust lawyers would be gearing up for a fight on this :bs:

I think one of the reasons that Ford hasn't been getting perks is because they have been turning down help. It's a strategy that benefits society because they aren't taking a free pass, their company because they are proving to the market that they are stronger than others, and the Ford family because they are showing the board and shareholders that the Ford family can continue to manage the business on their own and don't need to be replaced by CEOs from outside.

I'm pretty proud of Ford for continuing to pull itself up by its bootstraps.

In recent conversations with various people about the Government-BIG 3 bailouts, I've heard some interesting comments and reactions.
People who did not buy FORD products in the past now indicate a willingness to look at a new FORD and give FORD the edge in a buying decision primarily based on the fact that
FORD was the only domestic manufacturer NOT to take government money.

(My next car will most likely be a Taurus SHO...assuming I have any money to pay for it....but, Hey why should that stop me?....It doesn't seem to bother our Govt.!))

Done. Financing came through today, 5 years @ 0%. I bought a Black on Black F-150 Lariat 4X4 with the Chrome package, right off the rail car. It has 5.4 kilometres on it (about 2 miles). It'll take a day or two to get the bed liner sprayed in, and a couple more chrome accessories attached. All I can say is - what a pretty truck! And I will own it for $100 a month LESS than I was leasing a 3 year old for.

I'll post pics of my old and new trucks soon. :) That'll be 3 black vehicles in my driveway. Muuhahahahaaa!

What a nice truck. Everything that they changed, they did so for the better. eg: Heated, and cooled captains chairs - with 3 levels of each.

I was also thinkin this; I have owned nothing but fords for the last 15 years or so, this was because of styling and more importantly they seem to hold up to my driving habits on and off road. Even if I could score a different brand for HALF the price, that does not mean i'd buy it. I do believe that other loyal Ford owners tend to agree.

Fact is, you have to like something about your purchase, and switching over companies after all these loyal years is not something I could do.

Thanks! Agreed. I'll never push this truck to it's limits like I did the Marauder on the track a couple weeks ago. But it is such a nice machine, it's all the little things, and lots of the big things too. Like the motor. I don't know how, but it's deeper and throatier now. And spunkier.

I switched from GMs to Fords mostly out of necessity. I've owned several Camros and Corvettes, but I bought a 1980 Cougar from my Mom for $10, when the wife became the ex-wife and got the condo and Suzuki. Jobs I had came with Cavalier Wagons, Chev Astro panel vans, Chrysler Minivans, GMC Pickups, and even Escort Wagons. And I hated them all. When the Cougar died, all that fit the bill (RWD, 4 door, V8, and $$$) was a Crown Vic. When I went out looking for a 'new' car, 40 th anniversary Firebirds were going for $70k in the showroom, Subaru dealers were equally arrogant and the 300c's at Chrysler just looked wrong. The Crown Vic was probably the most trouble free vehicle I ever had, so I bought the Marauder as a no-brainer. When the Crown Vic died last winter, I took over the last year of another guy's lease on an 06 F-150. And it was superb!

Buying a new F-150 Lariat, for 5 Years at 0% was also a no-brainer. I think I could buy something other than a Ford, as there are models I do like in other manufacturers. But overall, I like Ford (& Lincoln, Mercury, Volvo etc.), better as a whole.

The F-150 is one fantastic truck.Tough looking and will serve you well.I know people who have owned one of the "Other" brands and switched to this truck because of all the trouble they were having with the other brands. I think a company that stood up to Uncle Sam and did not accept bailout money should be supported.:flag:
