Someone on a local forum just called and stated this:

I called and gave them the part number. They told me the price was $5700 and something. I said that on their website that it was advertised for $97.99 and I want it at that price. The guy freaked out and put me hold. A manager got on the phone and we talked and he said he could give me $1000 off the price because of the misprint but that was it. I told him that it wasn't enough and they have false advertising to try and sucker people and I got hung up on

Someone should try to order online.

I attempted to order, it allowed me to go all the way to the credit card info, with no problem, if I had continued, I would have a blower for a standard transmission Mustang. Probably need a lawyer.

I got one ordered online. $97.99 +11.99 handling charge total $109.98. I'm sure they will just refund my money but we'll see.

Me: Will you honor that price ($97.99)?
Jegs: No.
Me: Why not?
Jegs: Because that is not the real price.
Me: That is what you have advertised.
Jegs: We can not sell them for that price, the real price is $6,994.
Me: That is false advertisment.
Jegs: No, that is a mistake.
Me: You better get someone to fix it then.
Jegs: We will. (rude); Hangs up

Did they ever!

I can't believe they'll ship the blower.

Maybe I'll get some good discount coupons out of this.:D

If nobody had mentioned it to them, it may have very well been shipped at the $100. price. Most of these suppliers have separate billing and inventory/shipping departments that do not usually interact. It would have probably taken them a few weeks to notice the discrepancy and then they would have to get your permission to charge your card for the difference...

Oh well, loose lips sink ships I guess, but it was the ethical thing to do.

I'd imagine there is a substantial disclaimer on the website about mistyping and misprints, etc....

The $1000.00 discount was a VERY generous offer on their part!

I did the online first and got all the way to the payment section and then it showed the price of $6994. So I called them to see if I could get it for $97.99.

I was close to pulling the trigger too...but who knows what they would have came up with when they realized their mistake.

I paid with a credit card and I have a receipt for $109.98. You can dispute any credit card charge and I have the receipt showing the total. Now if they want to refund the money I will probably have to accept it but I don't think they can charge me the difference without my consent.

Awhile back, was there not a similar thing that happened with the K&N CAI?....

Credits were issued.... but someone did get one at the low price...... as it was all done before the cat was out of the bag.... I think they caught on when like 50 orders all flew in the same day or week..... Was it Summit???

I believe that I did the same thing at one of the mail order tire places (not Tire Rack) a couple of years ago. I bought 4 235/50 BFGs for $53. I didn't believe it would go through, because the tires disappeared off their site for a few days, and then showed back up with the correct price (over $100).

Not as good as a $6K blower for a Benjamin, but I was happy.

Did you receive them for just $53 or did they correct it and not ship them to you?

About 10 years ago, a tech buddy of mine found a state-of-the-art (at the time) PC processor online for $32.99 when the market price was $329.99. He ordered ten, made them fulfill the invoice, and paid for rent for a half a year with the profit.

Decimal place errors can hurt!!
