I am getting Stainless Work headers and I am wondering, do you recommend aftermarket bolts and gaskets or should I stick with OEM?

Also which online store do you recommend for OEM parts?

Thanks,
Fahad

The OEM gaskets are sandwiched/layered stainless steel and are re-usable.
They work great and don't compress like most aftermarket gaskets...that's what causes many aftermarket gaskets to loosen up and leak.
I also reused the OEM studs and nuts.

Haven't had a problem in the 4 years since I put my Kook's headers on.

The bolts are so rusty, so I am a bit worried. The dealerships don't stock anything for the Marauder.

Bought the gaskets and studs from them. Thanks.

After the tune and few runs today, the exhaust manifolds set the engine compartment on small fire. I used two small fire extinguishers and one 5 liter to put everything down.

Will look into the engine tomorrow, hopefully no serious damage.

"After the tune and a few runs the engine compartment had a small fire"
What was the air fuel ratio ? Were you leaking exhaust or gasoline ? Were the pipes touching anything ?

I'll bet the headers were up against the sound/heat padding on the driver's side right by the edge of the engine compartment. Both Dave and I saw burn damage there when we did our Stainless header install.

If the headers were up against the fire wall heat pad what was the fix ?

I think it was only the heat that caused the fire.

The car is running good now, except for the air suspension tube.

would really love to know what caught fire

Just the pads on both sides, but I was surprised they didn't go off using two cars' fire extinguishers.

I had to use a large one, that I think damaged the manifolds, because it was freezing everything.

Anyway the car is running well now, except for the burned Air Sus tubes.

Will leave the car until I get my long tubes.
