Took my two best girls and one of my daughter's friends to the ballpark last night to see the Washington Nationals vs. the Baltimore Orioles. This was my first trip to the new DC ballpark. Very impressive. I like it. It is well laid out with lots of amenities and good sightlines. We were on the Club Level courtesy of some tics from my company.

Due to all the hype about traffic and parking, I planned to arrive early and avoid the rush. Parked in Lot/Garage "C" just beyond right center field. There was live entertainment on the centerfield plaza and some very interesting "motion statues". We had dinner at the "Red Porch" restaurant right in centerfield overlooking the playing field. The "Red Loft" Bar and Grill is just above. Both have very nice seating areas.

Final Score: Orioles 2 - Nationals 1. The Orioles were robbed of a homerun in the first inning on a great catch in centerfield over the bullpen fence. Another long shot to left center hit the top of the fence and bounce up and back onto the playing field for a triple. That one should have gone out as well. The O's made two Little League mistakes (calling a pop fly to short center & running to 2nd on a one-out pop fly to center) - but it didn't affect the outcome of the game. I was routing for both teams. :D

Game ended at 9:45 PM and I was home by 10:30 PM. No problems at all.

OK Rich ..... Who is this?

+1 on the CAM meet idea. We caught a game in Baltimore a few weeks ago. Good times. With three kids in baseball, they'd love this.

Close Rich; but no cigar ….

WALTER PERRY JOHNSON
“The Big Train”

Walter Johnson might have been the fastest pitcher in baseball history. With his sweeping sidearm delivery, “The Big Train” led the league in strikeouts for 12 years during a 21 year career with the Washington Nationals from 1907 to 1927.
Johnson won 417 games, including 10 straight seasons of 20 or more, and his 110 shutouts remains a record to this day. He led Washington to the Championship in 1924.

In 1936, Walter Johnson was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

According to the DVD baseball series, Ty Cobb walked away from the plate after taking his first called strike from Walter Johnson. The umpire told him that he “had 2 more strikes coming to him”. Ty Cobb replied, “You can keep ‘em, ‘cause they ain’t gonna do me much good today”.
