I searched the forums and came across the ancient topic below, so I know I'm not the first person to have this problem...

My driver and passenger doors are coming into contact with the car and chipping away the paint, just above the door. I just dropped off the car for another repair and asked them to take a look at this too and get back to me if it's going to be covered under the extended warranty.

I was hoping to have some solid information under my belt in case they call me back and say they've never seen anything like it and it's my fault. One of the posters in that topic mentions a "plastic bumper" on the '04s, can any '04 owners comment on this?

My driver door has the same issue. The upper right hand corner where the corner of the door contacts the frame there is a small paint chip which is rusting badly....I am out of warranty and no one will cover it...they say ford's rust warranty doesn't apply because it isn't a full HOLE. What kind of BS is this??

According to the owners manual the warranty only covers rust through, not surface rust.

Sounds like your doors aren't adjusted properly.
