Well, I stopped by my local dealer to show them the upper door area and the door jamb.
Well, Doug (service manager) looked at the jamb, and said "seems sticky". He goes into the shop, gets a bottle of Motorcraft tar remover, wipes it on the jamb, and PRESTO! about 6 inches of paint wipes right off. Hmmmmm that's odd.
He instructs me to go to the body shop.
Manager ther examines it and says"Yep, we'll need to have it for a week or so. "
What for I ask?
We'll have to reshoot the jambs, r&r the weatherstrips, oh and reshoot the entire roof.
The entire roof, huh? How come sez I.

Cause of that little worn through thing at the top, can't just touch it up.
Sooooo, she goes on on the 7th of Novemebr, and when i get back from scottsdale, she should be done.
Pray for me.
This means that at Hershey, she won't be all Zaino'ed out...sorry.

Well, Rich, we will just have to learn to deal with an un-Zaino-ed Marauder now, won't we? I know there are not many, and they do not appear in public in the light of day, but maybe we'll could find you a parking space beneath a tree somewhere, where direct sunlight won't give you away. Meanwhile, it's "don't ask, don't tell" on Zanio topics in Hershey...

Out of respect for Rich, I will drive my unwashed, unwaxed MM to Hershey and I will leave it dirty all weekend.

Yeah, but your car is sooo fast the dirt can't stick to it.

Hey Jim,

How did the paint work turn out? Were they hacks, or a real body shop that took their time?

Don't know yet Tim? I was suppose to get the car on Tuesday. 10/7 then they called and said Thursday? Thursday they call and say Friday? They can have it as long as they need to.

Well let you know.

Wish me luck:help:  :shake:

I bought my new 03 Marauder on Labor Day Weekend. A few weeks ago I washed and waxed the car and noticed cracking in a few areas on the roof, trunk, hood, (surface areas) about the size of a quarter. I took it to the dealer's paint shop and they tried to buff it out but said all the surface areas will need to be repainted. The cause they said was bird crap. This car must have sat around a while since it was born in Oct 02. I then took it home covered it up and left the next day for Iraq. Will be home at the end of November to get it in and repained. I just hate to break the factory seal. I'm considering using the Zano sealant once I get it back.

I was also hoping to make the Hershy Park trip...but next time.
