Just had this happen about two days ago. First i noticed loss of boost pressure so i changed out both the belt and belt tensioner. Still at about 6000 rpm I'm only seeing 4-5psi of boost when the car is set for at least 9.5psi(my normal boost at that rpm) also i've noticed this loud like popping or flapping noise from under the hood while at full throttle, is this the bypass valve doing this? Normal in-town driving if fine, no sluggishness and no noises from under the hood. I have a DR air-to-air vortech s-trim if this info would help or if others out there with this set-up have seen this before. Full throttle, 3psi boost, loud popping on driverside under the hood....
I suggest you give Dennis a call. There may be procedures he can advise you to narrow down the possibilities, 1-904-276-5003.

Another member here told me that these valves go bad after about three years. Mine's still running strong, but apparently he's seen one fail on his father's Vortech-charged Mustang. You can order them directly from Vortech or I'm sure DR can get you one.

You are not a vendor, :nono:
Yes this is true Zack and edited the post, but people can call me for help especially if they have my kit on the car, and you are no longer a SCT dealer and SCT shut off your dongle. So I understand your frustration. I hope every one has a good weekend in its rained here for ten days.

Sounds like spark blow outs. Bad bypass valve doesn't make loud popping or flapping noise while under WOT.
How old are your plugs and what are they gapped at?

check to make sure that all your hoses and pipe clamps are tight

Think I've tried all the above so far, changed out all plugs and reverified the gap and traced every inch of hoses and vacuum lines...still same result. I plan to get it back down to Dennis this Friday to see whats going on:confused:

When you reverified the gap, what were they gapped at?

I'm the guy Scott is talkin about.
It turns out not only did the bypass take a crap but because the bypass did the car ran REALLY rich and fouled the plugs too.
Make sure the gap is about .030-.032

I am having almost the exact same issues....
Please let me know what you find out.
I just replaced my plugs and cleaned the TB and MAF.
I cleaned the IAC last week. I have a new belt, tensioner and all 3 idler pullies...

My guess for both of us is a bad COP, it happened to me before and results in a loss of power, an the car runs just a bit rough...
I took it to a shop, they scanned it and said the car had no codes and that they thought the car ran great...
I am going to change mine tonight. I just did the plugs yesterday.
The only other thing it could be is a bad fuel pump.

Did you figure it out??
Of course I did, it had two plugged up cats, we took care of that, checked the tune and he is on his way home. The car has a 122k on the clock.

I have never in ten years heard the noise this car made, I truly thought the motor was hurt.

Nice work Dennis... It must be a great feeling to drive away with the car fixed. I wish I was close enough to bring you the car.
I don't have any cats anymore... it must be something else on my car..
Any ideas?
I have replaced the O2 sensors, all 8 COPS, new plugs, new belt, tensioner, idler pullies, alternator, and rebuilt s/c.
Cleaned the Air filter, MAF, TB and IAC. All hoses and pipes intact and tight.
I just had new mufflers put on today. (Oems had internal crap loose and rattling).
The car still runs rough and on the highway runs well, but when I take my foot off the gas the idle surges and the fuel pressure is all over the place.
I am jsut going in circles trying to figure out what the hell it is!

John I wish I could help, but I can't fly out there, the car ran perfect when it left here correct, till you took the sc off, and this problem is not sc related, as I have said what I can do is help when you get the car to a sct dealer or some one that knows what they are doing. Any good Mustang shop should be able to figure this out. I have asked SCT for a good dealer out there for you, the only other person I know of is Bruce Tucker at JBA racing.

Its about 10:30pm Sunday night and i just back home to South Carolina from Florida. Dennis and his crew did an excellent good helping me with the MM as always:banana2:. Like Dennis said this was a very unique problem that I was having...for a minute I thought it was time for a new engine! I'm the original owner of my MM, I purchased it in 2004 and from the first day I drove down to Orange Park to meet Dennis he has and always will be the only person I trust when it comes to advice, maintenance, or performance maintenance on my car...thanks again Dennis! Yeah Dennis I got the new front tires Saturday evening before I headed out this Sunday afternoon, I made it home safe... thanks for your concern.:D

You wanna talk about first time for everything? My cat got clogged on my Grand Prix GTP, got so bad gas COULD not escape through it, instead, while going up a hill the backpressure blew a ****ing hole right through my upper intake manifold! You wanna talk about loud noise?!?!
