View Full Version : Mopar and GM won't be seeing me

I went to a dealership today to ask about both cars. (Dodge and GM in the same parking lot!) First off I couldn't order an SRT8 with 18 inch wheels so I didn't even bother to mention I wanted it in green.... but I did and they said it's not possible and that green was for 2007 only.

Next I went to the Camaro and it's starting to grow on me. I asked about leasing and they said all American car companies are done with leasing. Everything is now finance and even people with a 700 credit rating will have to give up $10,000 upfront if they want a Camaro.

I said I have never even seen ten thousand dollars and the guy walked away... literally. I said looks like I'll have to fix my posi and keep driving my Mercury, which I had no intention on trading anyway.

I don't know how these guys will survive.

I'll look into a 2009 Mustang GT later... maybe.

Maybe Audi... the Imports are really starting to appeal to me since they don't look like they were built as cheap as possible and can actually turn without a problem.

Maybe Ford is the way to go, I don't know. I'm open to anything. I just may need a new car soon.

Where is there a GM and Mopar dealer together here?

And aren't the new Stangs going to get an updated powerplant to keep up with the rest?

Do yourself a favor, buy a like new Mustang Cobra...

FORD credit has always been there for me, even when my credit was crap

Although, I guess technically we all own a piece of GM now...

I don't like the "new" image. It would have to be a 2009 or before. I liked the style of the headlights, tail and everything from 2005-2009. Heck 05-06 would be better since the trunk is smooth and doesn't have the radio thing like all the cars after that did.

I like the Challenger more than the other 2, but the pricing is stupid and what it takes to get one is just nuts.

How bout a CTS-V

Modern Cadillacs do not turn me on at all dispite their performance ratings.

50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and up to 1996 Caddys are to my liking.

Espeically the 50s.

A CTS-V's rival is a M5 and for the style and everything I like the M5 more, but it's like $30,000 more too.

I can't win. I'm too picky!

I thought 18 inch wheels do not fit the SRT-8 because of the big brakes in the front?

I second the 2009+ CTS-V vote!

Mustang.

I didn't realise there was other performance cars out there? As far as i'm concerned there is only one American car company now, and they only make one performance car. And thats all that I need.

CTS-V is ugly.. and weird shaped. since the STS-V is a tad bit larger i think its a better lookin vehicle
IMHO
I dont know how their performance differs, but if i had the choice i would take the STS

you can pick up a nice 2005 or 2006 gto with the sweet ls2 400 hp and trq easily under 20 grand. i had one. lots of room in both the front and back seats. im 6'2" and i had room to spare in the back seat. the interior is very upscale as far as fit and finish and looks too, not surprising since it was made in austrailia. independent rear suspension and more.

Put the money you want to spend on a new car into your marauder. New paint, rear end, built motor etc. etc.

Please don't do this. Saddling yourself with an Audi (that's not leased) will really become YOUR PROBLEM when it gets a couple of years old. The cost to repair these little gems is crazy. I've had a few family members go down the Audi route and if you don't dump them early you're in for a world of hurt.

You can pick up a 2006-2008 STS-V pretty cheap right now considering they were $77K new.

Thanks for the Audi warning.

I don't want a brand new Cadillac or anything Caddy with a warranty for that matter.

Any Caddy with chrome bumpers, drum brakes and no air bags is fine.

Anybody remember in the 80's when Audis had a serious problem?

It was rumored that, while idling, they would just start accelerating on their own.

man get the bloody 2010 mustang. I like the look of the challenger too. But come on the mustang always wins in the end well most times.

I raced a STS-V at the track a little over a week ago...... I wasn't that impressed at all, I hole shotted him pretty bad, he didn't catch me til about the 1000ft marker, I think he got me by 2 tenths when all was said and done, there was a big differance in MPH though, I think I hit 98 to his 104:eek: Beautiful car though and he probably wasn't a very good driver.

the real question is, what are you after. Are you looking for a new DD, do you care which end gets the power,...? I wanted a DD, RWD, V6 or V8, 4 door, reasonably fast but didn't need to be over the top.... I ended up with the LS and love it. You have to decide what is important to you and choose between the cars that fit your requirements.

A lot of the GM cars out now look good on paper (G8, CTS-V, Camero), but I would not own one because I have absolutely no faith that it will be worth a crap from a reliability standpoint after 20-30K miles. I also agree with no Audi. We had a VW (sister company to Audi), and we started having problems after 40K miles.

So you tellin me you wouldn't rip down the highway in it, blasting Maybelene by Chuck Berry?

Nope, because it's no V8 Ford. Chuck is chasing a Caddy, not driving one.

If it was the song No Money Down by Chuck Berry that would make more since. HA he trades in his Ford.... it's a follow up to Maybelene!!! I just got it!!!!

I am looking for a possible DD with excitement.

I don't like the 2010 Mustang look no matter what.

2009 and before more my style.

Isn't that the magic date when the closed up dealers own their inventory? Thats what i've been reading, and I hear they are scrambling to sell cars and all their parts and doing almost anything they can. Just check the list of closures, nows the time to buy.

only got to page 3, you ever think about the Pontiac G8 GXP? I really like them, I cannot get a test drive for some reason but the prices on them are dropping by the day it seems. If I did not owe anything on the balt or could afford both I would definitely jump in one of them. Camaro is just a pain to get anyway, people who ordered month ago, still do not have theirs, some dealers tossing massive markups and just being dicks in general.
