Federal Highway Fund is going broke, so the planned fix is to raise taxes on gas. It'll be over $3/gal again soon.

I have been around 3 bucks for a few months in Chicago. At least for 93.

It's still $2.25 for regular here. Tax increases being discussed range from $0.14/gal to $0.40/gal.

Maybe they should have used the $20 billion they wasted on GM for the highway fund instead. You know seeing as how it still went bankrupt even with that money.

I kinda liked vehicle inspections better - take 3/4 of the illegal uninsured crap off the road and get fat pockets too - can't lose!
Is anyone here really surprised???

I don't know why anyone is surprised.
Gas prices go up EVERY year when the weather gets nice and people drive more. It is profit, plain and simple. As long as we continue to show that we are willing to accept only low mileage gasoline powered cars, they will continue to do this (meaning the oil companies).
I'm in the low mileage group myself, but I ain't complainin' about prices. Just pointing out the obvious.

Yep, just like clockwork. You can set your watch by the timing of the annual price increases.

Gotta make profit now. Soon we wont need oil! I hope I'm alive to see the big oil companies struggle!
