If I took my basically stock 15 second 4 door to the 1/4" mile would I receive a warm welcome from the other racers on a street car night, or would they laugh me right out the back door? Just trying to get a feel for how our STOCK cars are taken at these drag strips!
Thanks guys

If they do, they are idiots.
Ignore them and have fun!

Yeah, I figured as much... Always wanted to run the 1/4... I love drag racing and am going to see NHRA racing next weekend in Englishtown NJ and can't wait! I am sure there are slower cars than mine on a time trial open run night... Just want to get a couple runs under my belt and possibly have some baseline vital signs for future modding! haha

There will always be a slower car there. Most of the time they usually play real nice, unless you hot lap 30 runs and always run the same time meanwhile taking up their share of track time.
I wouldn't think twice about it! Have fun and enjoy.

I was going to do it either way... don't really care what they think, just preparing myself of what to expect when I get there!

When I was in college I used to go to the drag strip with a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville and 1997 Grand Prix... I got some chuckles, but it was fun nonetheless.
Go for it!

I've seen fart canned, lowered ( probably with a torch, LOL) painted up ricers run 17's....... and they still think they be fast!!!
You'll do fine....
besides If they see you running 15's ( high 14's if you try hard) they'll think all of us do... and DOOM will DESTROY them!!!!

Believe it or not you will win quite a few races on an open test and tune night. A lot couldn't believe I was doing 15s with a 2 ton car. People love them no matter what and you'll smoke 98% of the ricers. Enjoy!!!

Before I started doing the track days I was worried but everyone everytime I have gone have been real cool. Half the time when waiting(like for the bikers to have their runs) we'd get out of the cars in line and just go talk to everyone. Never had any trash talking when I have gone but it well probably happen but its whatever really, I am just there to have fun.

I caught attitude the only time I went in 2004. I just smiled at the jerks at the gate and said no thanks, not wasting my car or money here... Have never been back...

Go and have fun man! I know tons of people that bring in 18-20sec vehicles but they ran bracket racing and actually make money because their vehicle runs almost the same exact time hot or cold lol.

I want to take my bike down the track as well... Seems to be either just as, or a little more responsive as the Marauder and am curious what they will run... Should be interesting!

Our cars are nearly universally well received. Some may not like them but almost all respect them. Be open. Listen to others. Apply the 80/20 rule! You'll make friends.

Yep, just go and have fun. I raced my car a bunch when it was bone stock and mostly stock running 14.8-15.2 range. Funny story, when I started racing my MM there was an older gent who was racing a bone stock late 90's Tercel Whitehawk car in the brackets, sure enough he usually won with his 17.9-18.4 range. Once I got mods and was down in the 14.2 range I saw him again but in a older Tercel with a JDM turbo motor. We got to talking and knew some of the same people. We would try to line up with eachother all the time just because we were so close in time wise.
So back March of last year I made it into the 13's finally racing something and I was honored to be racing him when he finally made the 13 sec club that day also. We were both in shock and but very happy.
My 2nd 13 sec run was against the Tercel owner, I think he ran a 13.9x

If you don't take your car, there's room for one person in my Z...just keep your hands to your self!
