Car opinions needed desperately

ok. so im torn guys. i have a 2003 CVPI now, but i can get a 1997 Continental for free. the both have comparable miles, the CVPI has 70,000 and the Continental has 69,000. Interior wise is no comparison, the Continental takes the cake. seats so comfortable i could sleep in it no problem. exterior wise i think the CVPI is a nicer color (CVPI is DBP vs continentals cream like color).

Motor wise, the Continental kicks Ass. i see why you guys like the 4V motor so much! but im not sure if i like the fact that it's FWD. i guess that would take some getting used to since i felt like it was fighting me when i punched it on the highway, lol. but i need some input. i can get my hands on a supercharger for a cobra for like 200 bucks, but would it bolt on the continental motor? i need someone with some expertise in Continentals here. so anybody have some input?

I almost bought a Conti before I bought my Marquis.

It was a nice car and they drive awesome.

The one I was looking at was a 2001, though. I don't know how that compares to the 90s models.

Could you get the Continental and then sell both and buy a Marauder?

Continentals average $2K private party and your CVPI will get you around $6.5K. $8.5-9K will make a good dent in the price of a good Marauder.

Don't be desperate, get a Marauder and be happy.

Oh trust me, i'd love to have a Marauder, and i greatly appreciate you finding those deals on them, but as it stands right now i can't afford one. Full time student, and i only get to work over the summer. couldn't afford the insurance on it. i'd settle for a conti due to having to drive back and forth to school and home in the winter. FWD is supposed to be good at that sort of thing i believe. i can have the CVPI or the continental. my sister needs a car because she wrecked hers, so i told her she could buy mine (if i get the conti), or the conti from my friend. it all depends on whether i want it or not.

Seeing as you are from Indiana a wrong wheel drive might be a nice feature come winter.

lol, the thought has crossed my mind a few times. FWD does seem like the better of the two, but only in snow and such. that commute from muncie to noblesville does get a little touchy come winter time

You could buy a Marauder and become a member here. You may like the Continental now - but wait until you have a $4000 transmission replacement. Those care literally were crappy all around.

Don't forget the air suspension which is always problematic. Does the Continental sit too low or high? If so.. watch out for an upcoming air suspension issue.

techincally it would be a trade. im ending up with either a CVPI or Continental. My sister gets the other car

+1 :stupid:. The Continentals had air ride issues and it ain't a cheap date to fix.
FWD is not all it is cracked up to be in the winter. Put a set of snow tires on a CV and I can drive circles around a FWD car especially one with a V8. Once the front wheels start to spin in the snow (and they will with a powerfull V8 under the hood) you have now broken traction of the tires in charge of .... hum lets see everything. Once they are spinning you have little control over steering and braking until they regain grip. I feel much more in control of the situation in a RWD car, FWD just gives a false feeling of security bacause you can take off a little better.

Also, check how much isurance for the Conti would be compared to the CVPI
