View Full Version : To anyone who had/has a lot of records, I need your help

I am really starting to build up a collection of vinyl. 33 and 1/3's and a ton of 45's. I need to know if there was anything to organize all of these. I have books and sleves of 45's all over the place and all of my big records are on the floor.

I need to know if there is/was a shelving unit or if I have to build something.

I probably have 400 45's now and maybe only 120 33.333's. Let me know.

They make vinyl storage racks...some of the local radio stations here have them. They are pretty damn expensive.

Load the K-5 up with some wood, make something yourself, hone your woodworking skills in the process...and have fun with it! Listen to the very records you're making the storage system for.

I agree. Have hundreds of 33's and the storage units for purchase were too expensive, so bought lumber and made my own.

Crates? I use old milk crates for just about any and everything. I tay across from a school so they are free!!! :banana:

I have a large vinyl collection. I had California Closets come in and build out 2 closets in my finished basement for LP storage. I store my 45's in specially designed corragated plastic boxes sold online - Bags Unlimited, I think. I buy all of my inner and outer protective sleeves online - Sleeve City, I think.

I also say use milk crates...they are stackable and durable and you can haul them anywhere.

I use Bags Unlimited for my 45s storage boxes and for plastic sleeves for 45s and LPs. I only have about 200 45s and maybe 300 LPs. My LPs are all stored in bookshelves with books in the basement. The only thing I worry about is high humidity in the summer. I need to increase my basement de-humidification.

U-Haul moving box. There is one that is perfect for LPs. I have 2 or 3 boxes of them.

I was looking to buy or build a library for these records. I wasn't looking just to store them. Looks like I'll have to build something. Ikea sounds good too, but as we know expensive.
