I got a flat in the rear last night and when I pulled it off just the center strip had worn down. What would cause this? Also what does carfixers alignment do for the car? Mine is daily driven not raced or anything. Also I want to put 4 same size tires on whats the verdict on this. I believe I have a 300a with map pockets and seems no traction control.
Thanks in advance

If you are talking about the rears, the advise is usually more pressure in the rears. Normally people would tell you less pressure to correct this, but this advise was given to someone by BFG itself. Something to do with more pressure needed for proper side wall support. I have chosen to ditch the BFGs all the way around, and am much happier.

Get something other than the OEMs for the rear. On a 300A w/out TC you can run the 235/50/18 all the way around if you like. CarFixers alignment specs correct the front tire inside wear problem and maintain excellent handling. The OEM alignment was too aggressive for daily use.

The only fix for the rears is to STOP buying pos BFG tires.
Carfixers specs are for the fronts only, and correct inside tire wear issues on cars straight from the factory.

255 45 18's on all 4 and lower it!
At least the centers won't wear out of the rears anymore!

Do you connect tread from the front to rear tires because that thing must look like a tank

Ok thanks I appreciate the help. So if I take it and just get a four wheel alignment it wont be correct?

Correct, if you get the alighnment set to factory specs, you might as well start putting money away for the next set the same day. Carfixers specs will give a little more life from the tire, and inflate your rears to 36-39 PSI if you want them to last.

4-wheel alignment won't help the rears. Run 40 psi in the rears and they will last.
Carfixer's alignment will fix the problem with fronts wearing on the edges. Run 36 psi on the fronts.
This works very well on the wife's car, which is still running OEM-spec tires all around.

It handles like it's on rails.
There are one or two pictures in the Carlisle threads.

I searched by his screen name and that post doesn't show up. Is it in a different forum?

This thread has the alignment specs:

My camber is set to the more conservative 0 to -0.3 but with my tire & suspension setup the handling is still great. I'd say setting it as close as possible to -0.3 would be a good idea.
I dont get it.
I have had 5 Marauders, all aligned to factory specs and Ive never once had a tire wear problem.

Ok now I remember on his how to he said you had to remove something. I was hoping to be able to take a print out of his how to when I get new tires and an alignment so the guys don't think I am crazy. Oh and yes the inside of my tires are wearing out but the rest of the tread looks great except the backs.

Both of mine have worn the inside edge of the fronts and center of the rears. The alignment is within specs, but the specs are too loose. The Carfixer specs are at one end of the limit on the specs. Maybe you got lucky. 5 times?

There are retaining tabs on the nuts for setting camber. You have to remove the tabs in order to get enough adjustment to set the alignment. Take off the tabs and use a wrench to hold the nuts instead.

Yep my DTR ruined the 1st set of front tires. The tech that aligned mine said the OEM specs were more for road racing than daily driving.

Does anyone have the link that he posted with the pics?

The specs posted on this site are wrong. Here is his response and updated specs. I also posted this reply in the suspension section.

I will have the mods update the document.
