Here a few pictures of the Liberty Foundation's B-17 Flying Fortress "Liberty Belle" that was flying out of St. Paul downtown airport yesterday. I used a 400mm lens and 1/125-1/250ss handheld. That combination yielded a lot of fail  Next time I will bring a tripod.

The four big radial engines produced a very pleasing exhaust note!

Even with my limited results it was a great day to be out photographing!

The same weekend as we were at Carlisle they had a huge military air show in Reading. I heard 300 planes and support stuff. Everything from WWI to the present, might have gone to this show if it was a different weekend then Carlisle

Awesome!

The Confederate Air Force used to (maybe still does) hold a fly-in every year at the Moore County Airport up in NC. Evrey year they tried to bring in one or two special WWII aircraft. Had the chance to see a B-17, a b-25, and one of two flying B-29s while we lived up there.

Great pcis, and thanks for sharing!

Great shots Jeremy!

I bet it was hard to catch with a 400mm hand held. You did good though.

A small local airport has an air show every year, usually the Confederate Air Force, some private vintage aircraft, and sometimes there is a group of all women, in vintage aircraft,(can't remember their name). The best air-show I've seen was when I worked for Boeing AC, and had an air-show at our re-work facility. All I can say is C-5A, it flew over our house everyday, my wife was so afraid, it is so big it looks like it is just sitting there, she thought it was going to fall out of the air.

I've flown on one of those. its a ride of a life time. I've always love the B-17, and riding in one made that love even stronger!
