Does anyone know what the EPA expected milage was for a 1995 Ford Contour LX 4 door automatic 2.5L DOHC V-6?

Actually, the link I just posted is not for an automatic. Sorry.

I worked with a friend running a note lot in texas a few years back. These seemed to be halfway decent cars (the 2.5 L 6cyl versions were LX's or "sports" or something like that) unless you run across one that has been overheated. Then I would turn and run...the heads warp and they are a nightmare after that.

BEWARE OF THE WIRING HARNESSES! Ford was experimenting with a biodegradable wiring insulation on these vehicles and it resulted in a short term recall. The insulation flakes off the wiring in the engine compartment and causes all kinds of problems. Be aware of this issue.

Many thanks-that link gives me a ballpark idea. My friend wants to see what he needs to trade up to to get "the clunker" rebate.:)

Don't know if it's the same for the 95 but my wife still drives (and likes) her 2000 V-6 2.5L Duratec (24 Valve) Mercury Mystique LS. I'm looking at the original sticker and it was rated 20 city and 28 highway. In the smaller print it further estimates it is more like between 17 and 23 city and then between 23 and 33 on the highway. She has been getting 30+ on the highway out of it.
It's generally been a good car (now 80k) except the dash had to be refit from sun warpage (yes even garaged in Seattle), the front rotors seem to go fast and the alternator went early (and is a bugger to get on and off). Hope this helps. Cheers!
