Hey guys,

I'm looking to replace my stock mufflers with flowmaster super 44's

What size/inlet do I need?.. and where should the inlet/outlet be (center/offset)

also would like to replace my tips with magnaflows.. (15 degree rolled edge)

I'm guessing I would need the 22" long tubes, in 3.5" round?

any help would be great!

The only help I can give you is this:

Take it to a good muffler shop to install, as they will be able to make the adjustments.

I am pretty sure you need 2.25s and you might need a 2" to 2.25 step up adapter for each inlet (not 100% sure on this, the stock pipe might flare up where it goes into the muffler)

I can look under my car when I get home to tell you for sure but I'm sure someone who has swapped mufflers with a stock exhaust can tell you quicker than I

Ditto on the Areo 2525 mufflers you will never regret.

To actually answer your questions:
Flowmaster Tech Support recommended Series 40 Delta's because they thought the 44's would be too "loud" for daily street/highway use along with drone. They were right, the Series 40 Delta's are just right.
Here are the diameter's you requested:
the H pipe and pipe to the mufflers is 2", the rest, (muffler to the tips), is 2.25"

I used the Flowmaster 942041
http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/40_delta.html

You want a offset inlet and a center outlet
You will also need a 2" to 2 1/4" adapter on the outlet, from the muffler to the tailpipe/tips

I've got the Magnaflow 22" X 3 1/2" rolled edge tips on my DTR and they look fine, mine cost me $129 for both tips including installation. The way mine are installed you can just make out the word Magnaflow on them if you look closely.
BTW,I ordered 2 Aero Turbine 2525 mufflers from Cowboy183 on eBay last night.I got an 8% discount so I paid only $219.88 for the pair shipped. They should get here next Tues or Wed and they'll get installed next Saturday.I can't wait to hear them,I may do a mod to my h pipe while the car's in the muffler shop.If the second set of cats mysteriously disappear I'll be even happier.

I'm saying 200 for a pair of glorified glasspacks is crazy, someone is hitting the crack pipe.

Well, most of us want better mufflers than you get by climbing over the wall of the boneyard at night and swiping some off of 1954 Chevy School Buses.:fishslap:

The Aero Turbines are far from a glasspack. I am not saying that they are the only way to go but there is a lot of technology in this muffler. The only simularity between the AT2525 and a glasspack is maybe the shape. We have had really good luck with this muffler in many applications.

You dont find glasspacks on Formula 1's

Delete a set of cats, or better yet delete the all and replace with 2 hi-flo cats.

I'm looking to keep all the cats for now..

if I think it needs to be louder, I might delete a set of get high flows.. just not to sure about the e-test every 2 years we have to get.

bolt out your cat section and take it to your local muffler shop and get them to make up a straight pipe section complete with the 02 bungs and flanges, using the stock section as a template, then when you have to take your car in for the ontario drive clean test every 2 years you just bolt your stock piece back in, plug in the 02 sensors and away you go:beer:

i left on all 4 cats deleted the resignators and put on the Aero's, and a lot of people said its plenty loud. at some RPM's usually around like 2300 its almost louder than my mustang with no cats. i love these mufflers.

Thanks for the idea!..

I'm just going to do the mufflers and delete tips for now, and if its not loud enough for me, I'll give your idea a try!

oh yeah, should I do anything with the X pipe?..

i would just leave the stock H pipe, just because i dont want to hack up my exhaust, i probably wont even touch my mufflers once i get to removing my cats. Its a personal preference i guess, i think there is a thread on H pipe vs X pipe try a search

H-pipe unless you are going to be running 600 + hp then an X-pipe shows performance gain over the H-pipe.

H-pipe will produce a louder tone at lower rpms as where X-pipe is at higher rpms.

x pipe will show a decent gain and you dont need 600hp to use one.

I have the flowmasters super 44s, rear cats deleted, stock tips removed and my muffler guy replaced the tips with hollow, stainless straight edged tips it sounds way better than stock,no drone inside,i think that by going with the straight tips over the rolled lip gives you no cackle,imo.....i cant wait to get my headers and a jlt cai.....happy motoring.........its not to loud at all ...i wish it was a lil louder.....

Well, after contemplating over super 44's or aero 2525's I fianlly made my mind up and ordered a set of aero 2525's and magnaflow 4inch tips.

now time to decide on if I should delete a set of cats..

finally got the exhaust installed thursday.. sounds great (alot louder then I figured it would be)..

I had the mufflers, 4" magnaflow tips, and removed the second set of cats

but I somewhat feel like I'v lost some lowend torque?.. anyone else have that feeling after installing them?
