My insurance company listed my Merc as a Grand Marquis. It is a Marauder and I've told them this. They have yet to correct it. Anyone else experience this issue? I have Gap insurance on my note, so at this point who cares, but as I get to the point of break even/paying off it will become an issue.

When I was insuring mine, insurance lady definately asked if it was a GM or a Marauder. Policy prices were different, and when I asked, she said ins. co. wouldn't pay for Marauder if insured as Grand Marq. I'd make sure they took care of this ASAP.
My Insurance Company did the same thing when I pick up my Marauder back in June of 2002
It went like this on the phone.
Me
I just bought a 2003 Marauder and I sold my 1998 GM so I need to insure the Marauder.
Them
A What?
Me
2003 Marauder.
Them
What's a Marauder?
The policy read 2003 Grand Marquis, then 2003 Grand Marquis Marauder, now just 2003 Marauder.

I am listed as a Marauder. They picked up the model from the VIN.

I'm with Progressive (online). Vehicle is listed as Marauder. Was picked up thru VIN.
OTOH, I just added a 5yr./100k ESP and the Ford papers still list my MM as a Grand Marquis with a 4.6l DOHC engine? I guess they are half right and half wrong. I checked with my Dealer and even OASIS still list the MM as an GM. ESP is OK as is!

My insurance company listed my car as a marauder. What was really disturbing was when my dealer filled out the paperwork for the vehicle title and the registration for the license plates as a Grand Marquis. Here I am with this special car that I had waited for over 4 1/2 months for and they put Grand Marquis on the paper work. Talk about deflating my ego. Then I had to argue the point to get her to change the paperwork to read Marauder. I told my wife that I would have really been ticked off if I had not caught their mistake!!!

Well, I like you already! I paid full sticker back in 08/2002. Sure wish I would have known about this website PRIOR to purchaseing/dealing with the salesman.

I beleive my Marauder is listed as a GM. The insurance is cheaper than my 2000 GM. My title states Marauder.:D

My first MM purchased June 2002 was listed as a GM, my second purchased June 2003 is listed as a MM but with a less premium...go figure!

Disagreed.
If you have Marauder's VIN listed in policy it doesn't matter how they will call it: MM or GM (Geo Metro? :D )

When I bought mine, the VIN came back GM. I confirmed with the dealer at the time of sale. Maybe the early builds (like mine) didn't get unique VINs. I was still honest with GEICO,...got screwed with a performance vehicle surcharge for my trouble. My insurance jumped at this last renewal from $78/month to $90.
Interesting enough, MO charges personal property tax on vehicle based on their price. (still trying to get used to this concept after 6 years in FL, where they have no taxes). The PPT is based on the cost of the car...it's the only time that your car will ever be overvalued!
Neat thing is, I'm gonna get taxed on a GM...which is about 7.5 to 10k less than the MM. Hah. The tax office ran my VIN, again it came back as a GM. So I'm gonna get over on it, I think. But the new plates I bought cost me 84$...ouch...(2 year renewal):alone:
Also interesting to note is that Consumer Reports lists the MM as a sub-unit of the GM. They're not alone in this...seems to be going around. The only thing I can think to do is ride it out and see where it goes...
