Brian, why are you adding friction modifier to the differential? You normally only need to use it when changing the fluid. Don't add it to old fluid.

As far as using it in the transmission, same advice...don't add it to old fluid. It's a band-aid at best. If you're having the TCC shudder, then change the fluid using straight Mercon V. If you're NOT have the shudder, then adding FM will do nothing for you.

If you're going to be changing the differential lube, then unless you use Redline (I think) you need to add the FM or you will get clutch chatter on turns.

If you haven't changed the ATF in 115k, then change ALL of it. Do a complete fluid exchange, not a pan-drop, as long as the fluid is still pink. If it's brown and smelly, you waited too long; start saving your money for a rebuild.

I think Im starting to get a shudder. Its feeling odd when coming to a hard stop. I may be planning on doing a fluid change in the very near future.

^^^+10^^^

For many years the cure for trans/TC shudder has been one 4 oz bottle of Ford Friction Modifier added to the trans fluid until Mercon V came out and it contains the same additive!!:bows:

BTW, it works EVERY TIME!!:D

I just cured bad TC shudder in a friend's '99 F-150 with 160K miles and he says it runs like new now!!;)

+1 I run the 75W-110 Amsoil Gear oil. Good Stuff. In fact it's the best 75w-110 you can buy.
