Hi everyone,
I love my Marauder out on the open highway, but in town she seems sluggish driving around at 25mph. I always have to put her in 2nd gear around town. Seems like she dosen't like low rpms in 3rd gear at 25mph. Anyone else drives like this? I am the third owner, so I have no clue what mods or tune or anything else has been done to her. I have put the K+N filter kit in, and thats it.
What I did find: Took out that stupid tornado thingy out when I put the K+N kit in and took off a magnet thingy that was tie st***** to my fuel line.

Have you changed your transmission fluid and filter?

You need a tune to clear up the crappy transmission programming at low speeds in city traffic.

I did a Lidio Tune on an XCal II . Carfixer installed. No more sluggish behaviour.

Yeah what you were feeling is the stock tune locking up at 25 mph.

I use to do that...the car drove better with the OD off...now I just hop in and :burnout:

If your trans tune is set up properly, the car will not be engaging OD around town where it would be obtrusive anyway. I have OD come on only above 50 mph. If OD is ever on below that speed it is obtrusive, and it's not really going to save fuel from what I have seen either.
A properly set up tune, for your driving style, won't require pushing buttons to drive the car around town, just put it in drive and go
This is all besides the fact that no one with an MM should still have the terrible stock trans tune this late in the game, the stock tune held this car back really really badly.

Yep just went through same thing. A tune with an XCAL3 straightened mine right out.

Hi,
Overdrive is off when I drive her around town. I have always wanted to get a tune for her but I cannot afford it at this time. I will try to save enough for a tune. I already know there must be a thread on who has the best tune and will search peoples opinion on them. Thanks everyone for all your input.

tim, you've gotten the best advice already: get the car tuned.
Unfortunately, Ford chose a transmission shift schedule that is weighted heavily toward fuel economy by getting the car in as high a gear as possible as soon as possible. While this strategy may work with the CV and the GM due to the 2V motor having a bit more of its torque at the lower end, it was a poor choice for the Marauder's performance-oriented image.
In short, I doubt highly there's anything "wrong" with your car, so there isn't anything that can be "fixed" to improve your situation short of getting the shift schedule revised, which, unfortunately, requires a tune.
Good for you for removing the Tornado and the fuel magnet. The previous owner was obviously clueless.

Having OD off around town is your best bet for now, then. :-) It helps a little bit.
