I need to know some. I love 80s and 70s movies, but I know there are more to see. Just to get an idea I have seen an own all Beverly Hills Cop movies, Die Hards, 48 Hours, Another 48 Hours, The French Connection, Live and To Die in L.A.....
What else should I watch???
Yes I know some of these are action comedy.
Car chase scenes are a plus!

McQ (John Wayne in a Trans Am, score!)
To Live and Die in L.A. (you mentioned it, I second it, great flick)
The 7UPs (Roy Scheider in a Ventura, great chase scene)

Narc (directed by Joe Carnahan). Jason Patric plays Nick Tellis a police officer fired for accidently shooting a pregnant woman and brought back to investigate a dead narcotics officer. Tellis is teamed with Henry Oak (Ray Liotta) and what seems to be a routine investigation quickly turns into a riveting drama.
Serpico (1973 directed by Sidney Lumet). The movie was based on a real life story of an undercover cop in New York, Frank Serpico, fighting corruption in the police department.
The French Connection (1971 - directed by William Friedkin). Gene Hackman as Detective "Popeye" Doyle tryng to track and stop a huge heroin shipment.
Heat (1995 directed by Michael Mann). Al Pacino is the cop Lt. Hanna after the thief Robert DiNiro. Val Kilmer also has an excellent role as a thief who wants out after one more score.
City by the Sea (2002 directed by Michael Caton-Jones). DeNiro's portrayal of a hardened New York City cop makes his character rise miles above cliches. Homicide Detective Vincent LaMarca seemed very human and real as he struggled to deal with issues of the crime he is investigating, an estranged son who appears to be the prime suspect in a brutal slaying, and his estranged wife and distant girlfriend.
Se7en (1995 directed by David Fincher). Sordid tale of the tracking of a serial killer who murders for each of the seven deadly sins. Morgan Freeman plays his usual wise detective to rookie Brad Pitt. My favorite drill sergeant, R.Lee Ermey plays their police captain. Kevin Spacey plays one sick twisted little puppy in this film.
The Departed (directed by Martin Scorsese). Two men from opposite sides of the law are undercover within the Massachusetts State Police and the Irish mafia, but violence and bloodshed boil when discoveries are made, and the moles are dispatched to find out their enemy's identities.
(Just a start)

The TV series Hunter (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086734/) is pretty good specially the first 2 seasons. (I have all seasons on DVD over 40 discs!)
Some 70's movies that are worth watching:
The Driver (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077474/) is OK, it has some good driving.
The original 1974 Gone in 60 seconds (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071571/) much better then the remake.
Vanishing Point (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067927/)
Fear is the key (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068576/) the movie sucks, but it has a 20 min car chase!

And like mentioned earlier Heat. If you like that one also check out L.A Take Down (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097700/)

Rent Crime Story if you've never seen it. (I hadn't even heard of it until last year when I came across it on Netflix.) Runaway was redone by Del Shannon for the theme song with slight changes in the arrangement and lyrics. We liked it so much, we played it over several times before we watched each episode..... with the volume cranked waaay up! LOL

Great link!! Just spent the last half hour listening to all the Runaway versions.....including Elvis in '69 with Del Shannon in the audience! There is also one of Letterman in '86 at the time of Crime Story. Del sounds great with Paul Schaffer rocking the keyboards. There's the Crime Story version too. The actor who plays Ray Luca reminds me a bit of our own Blackened300a. (He's the guy in the video pointing a gun at some man in a phone booth, then later we see Farina's character pointing a gun at him.) I think he looks like Paul. ;) And my favorite version is the '82 one with Burton Cummings of the Guess Who on piano.

That video didn't even have Del's guitar plugged in. I guess it was American Bandstand or something. I believe Bo Diddley was the only artist to ever perform live on the show while everyone else make "music videos".
Now that we are on the subject of Rock N' Roll here is something for all of you. Be sure to listen carefully to the lyrics in the last verse. :P

If you haven't seen it I would also recommend "The Hunter" with Steve McQueen. Some of the movie was shot in Chicago and I believe that was his last movie before he pasted away.

Seen it, love it. I go to the barber that cut the stunt driver's hair. I love how in the movie the guys girlfriend complains how he hates everything that's new. Drives an old Chevy, isn't too fond of much, not even modern music at the time.
One of my favorites.
Based on true stories BTW!

Thanks for that Sean!
I bought my tires from the right guy!
I love how the guys are moving around, too bad it isn't live. That's as Rock N' Roll as you can get. No guitar necessary for that number. Little Richard is my favorite Rock n' Roll singer of all time. I have his first album on vinyl and I got it for five bucks, turns out it was worth a lot more since it's an original from 1956, but I still play it and I will never get rid of it... ever.
