Starry skies, and moonlit nights,
such beauty in our land ...
we're so thankful for these blessings,
that come from God's own hand.

The right to vote, to have a choice,
in a nation proud and strong
and on this Independence Day,
we sing our Freedom song ...

"God Bless America, land that I love ... stand beside her, and guide her
through the night, with the light from above."

We salute our flag so proudly,
and thank God for the chance to say ...
"there's no country we love better,
than the good ol' USA!"

Today we'll gather together,
with our family and our friends ...
giving thanks to God the Father,
for the blessings that He sends.

Thank you, Lord, for America,
a place where we can pray ...
we give You all the glory,
on this Independence Day.


Excerpt from The Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776

WHEN in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

Thanks for posting, Chris. It is always good to remind people that this holiday is "Independence Day" celebrating the day that the United States of America declared its independence from foreign tyranny. Far too many people just see it as the "4th of July" and a reason to fire up the grill.

Happy Independence Day Chris!
Thank you for reminding us of what we are celebrating. We owe everything to our Founding Fathers and their courage and vision. We are indeed blessed to live in the home of the free and the brave.

This is one American Holiday that holds special meaning for me.

Way back in WWII, my grandfather was captured and inturned in an American POW camp in april or May, part of his trek from Greece to Germany, on foot after his transport ship was torpedoed by the British in the Mediterranean.

Anyhow it was on July 4th (44, 45?) that he, as a drafted into the army, ex prison warden for juvenal boys and a whole section of the POW camp escaped while the guards were celebrating. He then worked his way back home where he was picked up again, this time by the Canadians and re-instated as the local Prison Warden.

When I wish you a happy 4th of July, it holds special meaning. While we just had our 1st of July birthday for Canada, it is really is a low key affiar up here.

A reminder of what/who/why we enjoy our freedom(s). And yet, at last night's local fireworks display, when our National Anthem was played, I noticed many folks never bothered to respectfully stand, let alone remove their headwear.......shame on us/them. :o
