I just want to say it is tough every where you look, not only car repair as well as parts, it is all across the board, restaurants bars and lounges, we are in a very tough time, and it is not going to get better any time soon, I called Ford today the GT pump I use, just went up 50% it now cost me 150.00 three months ago it was 98.00, the Ford 8.8 locker is on national back order, no one is stocking parts. I am waiting weeks on sway bars, Kooks has moved out of New York there on a six week wait, they relocated to NC, and there is a reason for that, its called taxes NY is ran on the rich, Rush Limbaugh moved to Florida for the same reason. So these are trying times, for many small to medium business. All you can do is the best you can and try and hold on.

Ahh....Dennis.....That's a 50% increase in the fuel pump, not 33%.

Just wait until the parts discontinuation really steps up. Ford has already discontinued a couple of parts that I use pretty regularly.

Parts are a huge problem for us dealership techs alot of parts are only serviceable only as assembles. Most parts we can order are national back order and ford gives us no eta. I just had to wait 3 weeks for a ptu for a 2009 Mercury Mariner try explaining that to the customer:mad2:.

Automotive parts aren't the only items facing these types of issues. Enough to give a guy gray hair....;)

Yes it has.....today in the Sun Times they have a blurb on how Jim Beam has
run out of Knob Creek Whiskey! I think that is one of the distilleries the Looseville gathering has visited in the past. It seems they wont release their product until it is aged 9 years and the next batch is not due out until November!

You know it's bad allover when the Kentucky Whiskey starts to run out!

Sucks, hopefully they aren't too much $$$ and you can horde some.

I am actually working on that. ;)

On one the choice I have to make is that there is a GOOD aftermarket part that only costs about $20 more than the factory part. The aftermarket part is SFI certified and really most of the usage I see is for people that might be interested in that anyway.

What kills me though is that this is a part that is the only solution from Ford on a stock vehicle that was produced in 99-00. WTF are they going to do when a car comes in to them that needs this $75 part that they can't get anymore?

"Sorry sir, to fix that we are going to have to replace the engine."

This slow down is impacting the bar business as well, as restaurants department stores.

I hear you there, Dennis. E-Dubb's a chef at an upscale restaurant in Greenville and they recently cut back on hours. He wasn't really impacted much, but a couple other folks took a hit.

I feel for those whose livelihood is impacted, but it sure is nice to go to your favorite restaurant and not have to wait for a table. And convenient parking spots are a lot easier to find at most shopping places these days, too.

It should get bad until 2020 - 10 years of parts should be available easily for a car that hasn't changed much since 1998. There are millions of crown Vics out there.

I have a 97 Lincoln Mark VIII in the shop right now that I we did a built forged engine on that we topped with a Kenne Bell supercharger and installed a transmission package, driveshaft and built rear end. Almost every part that I have called Ford on that I needed for this car has been discontinued and some of these parts that I needed were from newer Mustangs. Fortunately I was either able to find dealers with leftover stock or aftermarket parts that I could modify and use.

Times are tough for this hobby right now and I fear it will onlly get worse.
