If you want to know what is going on with your tires(temperature, pressure, etc.) look into the units offered @ www. tyredog.zylux.com They have a four wheel unit that goes for around $200 and the sensors mount on the end of your valve stems! You can change them from car-to-car and the reader is small enough to attach to your key chain.
They also have units for a bike or a cycle.

I was just thinking about this...but really dont want these to get swiped! Are there any that mount inside that work well?

The units have a security device to prevent easy removal. However, they are small enough to get by without notice(like the size of a fat valve stem cap). Also, you can take them off if you feel the area is not safe and put them back on when you are in a more secure place.
These are the best for our cars-they will warn you if your tire pressure goes outside of the "pressure range" you dial into to the main unit.

Or just buy a good gauge and check them yourself every fill up lol.

Lots of new cars have this in a way; the ABS or traction control monitors how long it takes for each tire to rotate and somehow if your tire is low on air it can sense that and an idiot light goes off on the dash. Im sure somebody here can explain it better. Hell, they might already be on our cars.
