Ok good news: I picked up the Marauder today after 8 days in the body shop.
Problem: Clearcoat. They (dealership) agreed to re-shooot the clearcoat.
What really happened: They reapinted the whole top of the car!
Paint is somewhat better BUT it looks like crap!!!!
Very poor workmanship!
Shop has a very very good reputation in the area!
Car was never wash prior to delivery, lost of marks on lower parts of front fenders, power cords, air hoses, belt buckels:mad2:
When I went back to the service advisor he told me that their was no around to look at the paint! Did not know when any one would be around? :help:
Plus 3 of the pre-set raido stations were changed  :help:
I choose to leave rather than :argue:
I was too too hot:mad2:
Felt my best move was go see my body guy and regroup:)
I will be BACK tomorrow morning:flamer:
Not to leave till I get it resloved!
This paint issue has played out too too long:(
All comments are WELCOME!

I have warned several people over and over not to repaint their MM. Not only does this drop the value $3,000.00, but it is noticeable. 1st step is clay the car. 2nd step is with the right person, and I repeat "with the right person otherwise they will burn your paint" and a high speed buffer with a foam pad and light scratch/swirl remover - 95% of surface damage can be taken out. 3rd, use a orbital buffer and apply paint sealant (not wax) at least 3 times during the 1 st day. wait a month and reapply the paint sealant 3 more times and the paint will absorb the protective sealer. paint is pourous like your skin. done these steps the last time on my metallic black 01 prelude that was 7 months old on the dealers lot with the lot boys spraying water on the car and then wiping the dirt in. take that once a week and water spots for 7 months and that is what i started with. they offered to repaint the car. they could not believe what the car looked like 2 weeks after i got it. BTW, my dealership just painted a customers car on their request to the tune of $3500 at the best body shop i have ever seen being in the car business 13 years. looks good to great but open the doors, hood and trunk and feel the tape marks. he is thrilled with the work. i along with both managers can tell and all agreed $3000 less than a non painted car.

when it comes time to repaint my MM I'm gonna get it stripped to to bare metal and have it done with DuPont Imron.
Big bucks? ... yeah, I know. I don't have any plans to get rid of my MM. Now I just have to save up 10 grand and find a worthy paint shop!:D

Jim - Sorry about the paint. I had a small scratch on the rear door. The dealer said the would repaint the panel. Needless to say I left it alone. I felt I would be better of with the scratch than a repaint. As bad as some factory paint jobs are the are extremely hard to duplicate. IMHO. Jim I hope it works out.:(

I missed "body shop part one..", I'll look for it. I didn't notice your woes at Ennis. I also am fed up with the clearcoat. I had one door re-painted this past summer. The paint looks good, the masking job was not. I figure...what am I gonna do. It had debris under the paint that will definately bubble out AFTER the warranty has run out...therefore, get it done now. I have since found more. I'm gonna live with it. I have already high speeded my entire car once, I have some talent in that area....however, the results were not as good as Petro might suggest. I have learned to face the fact that our paint jobs are lousy.....
Good luck BDJ...I have no other viable advice on this subject....as I have bowed down and given up on any resolution to this problem besides trading for a silver or red MM. And that won't happen at this point in the game$$$$.

This covers a lot of my own pet peeves.
- People not doing what they were supposed to do.
- People not paying attention and taking simple care in what they are doing
- People changing the radio settings of a customers car! Sometimes they've only driven it a few feet, and change the settings. Why can't they go without the radio for a few seconds of the day?

The body shop that did the work is know for doing quality work? I stoped in and talked with the owner myself.
He knew what needed to be done.
Why did he send the car back to the dealership in that condition?

I hear ya, RC.
I took my car for a yet ANOTHER minor warranty repair (which of course they f****d up and now have to reorder the part and reinstall). They ejected the CD I had in the player. They got a NEW CD from the back seat and played THAT. I found the ejected CD in the new CD's box! I mean, what the ******?
Hmmm . . . do I sound bitter?

Great post, joflewbyu2@aol! BigDog, don't mean to hijack your thread, here, but, joflewbyu2@aol, what exactly is the name of a good "paint sealer?" I've been looking to do exactly what you have described here for my paint woes, but I cannot determine the correct products to do it with!
I would very much appreciate if you could suggest a specific product brand and/or part number for a recommended paint sealer. Thanks.

Hi BigDog,
Kind of a re-post form another thread...
I'm getting a similar story from my dealer about paint. The body manager is setting an appointment up to have my paint checked with a magnetic digital gauge. He says Fords standard is 3 thousandths (?) thickness, and they'll check it against the 2 '03 MMs still on the lot, and a GM that is there too.
I've got quite a few belt buckel marks along the front and rear (how the heck?) quarters, plus spiders and swirls all over. Lots of chips in the hood, and even one on the driver door, under the mirror. He agrees the spots in the doors where the epoxy primer can be seen need to be addressed, but in describing the abilities of his paint man gave me the impression that the guy couldn't even grafitti a wall properly.
Does not instill me with confidence. Checking a bad paint job against another bad one isn't what I want. I want my car to look as good after 2 years as my Crown Vic does after 11 years. With all the weekends spend cleaning and waxing it, that shouldn't be difficult, right?

having those radio presets changed reminds me of when my dad left his car at the dealership for repairs..
It was finished a few days later with 35 more miles on it, none of the repairs had to do with the drivetrain...
