We'll be there. This is turning out to be a good summer. Took in the Corvette show this past weekend in Annapolis. I'll be in Reno for the last day of Hot August Nights, get back to Dulles on Friday at 630 am where Diane will meet me and we'll head up to the Woodward Dream Cruise. We had to top it all off with Marauderville 7. I would have used up all my man points for the summer but she's from the Detroit area and loves fast American cars (Yes Canadian too ).

I think i'm out. I was off work for two and a half months and then hired back. In construction during hard times, if you take a day off for any reason, then you must not need the money as bad as the next guy in line to replace you. If it is a go, can I like sleep on someone's floor, since there will be no more rooms? LOL.

Well, this time, I know definitely I will not be there. In the last 6 months. Ginny and I have been taking care of health matters that we had put off too long. In about another 2 months, we should be in the best shape we have been in years. Ginny has no more cateracts , vericose veins or blood sugar problems. I have no more blood pressure problems, kidney problems, cholesterol problems, blood sugar problems or, for the first time in over 50 years, no back pain. We put together a team of young doctors that are the best in their fiields and, they got together and used a team approach and the results were dramatic---we are very lucky. Anyhow, this hasn't come cheap and the economy took a big bite out of my reserves--we're still doing OK, but it will take a while to catch up. I will be there in spirit, remembering the good time I had there at MV II--I also pulled out all the pics from Woodward Ave and MV III--it's been a lot of fun. I miss all you folks, and, Good Lord willing, I'll make at least one more MV. Be safe, be healthy and be happy--enjoy things while you still have the health to make the trips. Do a lap on the Brickyard for me--and take a lot of pics, Maury:beer::burnout::banana2:: D

Sherman will be pulling in friday sometime with his brother and his family. The Supercoupe club has their meet the same weekend. We are staying in Portland, IN about an hour from Cambria Suites, north east of Muncie. We are racing at Muncie sunday. I will come over friday night and help Sherman at the track and come over to Indy Speedway saturday for the lap, can't miss that!
Chris is Sherman racing at Marauderville Friday night? Plus ask him when he is visiting his brother so I can take him fishing.

Don't know if you all know about this:
Between 1AM and 4AM on Saturday, August 8, 2009, FOUR Hurst/Olds were stolen from 2 hotel parking lots adjacent to each other in Indianapolis, Indiana. There were over 125 H/O’s in attendance for the Hurst/Olds Club of America 25th National Meet. This was a calculated "hit", not a random crime. The thieves knew we were going to be there, they knew which cars they wanted, they knew what they were doing and they got us!
It took them less than 1 minute to gain entry to a car, have it running and leaving the parking lot. They used a white crew cab pick up truck and drove into the lot and parked like they were a guest. One person exited the truck and hit the car, then both left. They went back and forth from one hotel to the other, not raising suspicion. This was evident from reviewing the hotels security tapes. Following is a list of the cars with unique features about each. All of the cars had a roof option.
1979 Hurst/Olds black and gold
Rare factory moonroof
Rare black vinyl interior – drivers seat has a small hole from a broken spring
Chrome cover over the A/C pulley mounted with brass screws
Crack in the RH corner of the black dash pad
Switches mounted on the hood, trunk & doors from an old security system
Lock to actuate the old system is still located under the left parking light.
Also in this car that may be sold separately: 4) posters of Linda Vaughn and a 1983 copy of Hot Rod magazine with Warren Johnson on the cover w/autograph
1983 Hurst/Olds black
T-tops
All original 80K mile car
Complete numbers matching car
Maroon cloth interior
Small crack (¼") in the dash by the VIN
Eagle GT II tires with 500 miles
Black and white authentic 1979 Michigan plate with a 1983 sticker
1983 Hurst/Olds black
T-tops
Maroon cloth interior
Aftermarket stripes are more orange than the correct red
Jack storage decal in trunk has Doc Watson’s signature
H/O emblem on the dash has Linda Vaughn’s signature with hearts
Dash has minor crackling in the center area
1984 Hurst/Olds silver
Rare factory moonroof
Red light mounted in each wheel well for display purposes
Snaps around the underside of the hood used for attaching a cover.
Now it is time for us to find the thieves. Indianapolis News, channel 8 WISH TV did an interview with several H/OCA members including 1 of the victims. To view this clip go to WISHTV.com, click on "more stories" and then "four classic cars stolen". Anyone having information about any of these cars can contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS or Judy Badgley at 517-645-7438 or djbadgley@gmail.com (djbadgley@gmail.com)
Please pass this along to ALL of your car friends no matter what make and model they collect. Let’s make sure this doesn’t happen to someone else. KEEP TRACK ON EBAY AND CRAIGS LIST FOR THESE UNUSUAL CARS AND/OR PARTS!

I was on the fence from the get-go but had planned to cruise down for the lap @ IMS.
Unfortunately, my division is now facing layoffs (not in danger of losing my job); to that effect my schedule is up in the air. It looks like I will be getting 'bumped' to a split shift to cover the manpower deficit and that means working weekends.
If I wind up with the weekend off and some free $$$ in my pocket, I will slide down and hang out and meet some folks.

According to the registration page there are currently 33 registered. I assume that means there will be at least 30+ cars and there is still time for those last minute folks to get off the fence.
Hope that helps and hope to see you there.
I'll be there, just waiting to see if my guest is working or not, before I register and pay.

I guess those two folks need the extra couple of hours to get ready for the car show. :P
Personally, I wouldn't miss out on the lap around the "Brickyard" for anything. I have been kicking myself for 5 years when I procrastinated and missed the first chance at MV II in 2004.

As a local you have selected two excellant museums. If you have time at the Studeback museum you have the option to include the Oliver house tour. It is an excellant old mansion. Directly behind the ACD museum is http://www.natmus.org/ and should be done while you are there. Just off 69 is http://www.kccmuseum.org/ not more than 5 mintues from the ACD museum on your way to Indy. You can spend an entire day just at the museums in Auburn.
I will driving down to stay with famiily Thursday night and will be tuning the car Friday morning. I am skipping the Zoo (been there) so I will see you sometime Friday night.
I see you are trying to get to Noblesville in the evening but you have an open invitation to a home cooked meal at my place if you want to stop.
ENJOY!
