I lived in a Huntley/Brinkley (NBC) house growing up. Cronkite was CBS and I dont think we ever watched him. I think sometimes we would see Harry Reasoner and Howard K. Smith though on ABC. I miss the old days sometimes.

We were just the opposite. My dad watched Cronkite exclusively, and I carried on watching him until his retirement. I read the AP article on him this morning, and I can recall several of the stories (Kennedy's assassination, the Tet offensive, the Moon Landing) vividly, and Cronkite's commentary on them. Growing up, he was, to me, "America's most trusted man."

In this day and age when news is gathered from a variety of sources (24 hr new stations, The Internet, Blogs) it is somewhat depressing that a legend that brought us some of the most important events in history in a style that breeded trust has passed. You will be missed Mr. Cronkite
