please help; interior lights turning on randomly

I've been helping my father out with his MM (beautiful black '04 with 900 miles) and now I'm turning to you guys because I'm lost. The problem is the overhead lights turn on randomly, both when driving and sometimes when shifting into and out of park. Unfortunately when the car was under warranty the dealer couldn't find a problem. Now my father doesn't even want to drive the thing because of the inconvenience, especially at night. In researching the problem I thought it may have been the LCM. I removed it and had it rebuilt but the problem is still there. There don't seem to be any other LCM related issues like I've read about here on the forum. Any ideas what this could be?

The switchs for the light are built int the door latches, you could disconnect them one at a time till the problem goes away. That would be a good start, I have seen the switch assemblies go bad in the past. Or.... your dad could sell me the car. :D

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I hate working on this car because I'm afraid I'll scratch it or break a fastener and I'd never hear the end of it. Any tricks to door panel removal?
