I've got a V1, which I consider very good to excellent. As with all detectors, if you get hit by laser, it's normally to late to slow down. I have added a K-40 Laser Diffuser to the mix, with the detector unit mounted behind the grill. The diffuser goes off about the same time as the V1 does, but the diffuser will confuse the laser unit long enough to slow down. After a trip thru Ohio last summer, I can attest that the unit works as it should. I was hit several times running well above the posted limit, and was able to slow down enough to pass the patrol unit without being ticketed. Logan's set up is pretty close to the same just different brand. If your just looking for a good detector, then I would spring for the V1. The V1 has detected both rolling units and stationairy units well in advance of being clocked. I tracked 1 road side speed limit sign unit for about 3 miles prior to seeing it. The road covered some moderate curves, low hills, and corn fields.
Once you get used to the arrows and the setting you want, it's a great unit.

What Bob said. :)

I run a V1 for radar detection and a Blinder M20 Xtreme two head unit for Laser protection. Shuts them down hard. I've been lasered MANY times since the blinder went on and every time all I see is a cop staring at his gun with a "Huh?" look on his face as I pass by.... Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hey Logan, I've never heard of this unit. Where did you get yours from, and who makes it? I want to do some research on this product. Thanks,

or here (http://www.radarsource.com/blinder-xtreme.htm) for some info, but Radar Sourse.com is rather pricey!

DON'T BUY

Rocky Mountain Radar
We receive several inquiries per day as to why we do not sell or recommend the passive radar and laser jammers manufactured by Rocky Mountain Radar sold under the name(s) of the Phantom, Phantom II, Phantom III, Black Widow, Phasor, Shadow, Eclipse, Mirage and Spirit to name a few.

In our testing, and the testing of several major testing companies, the Escort 8500 is the leader of the pack! Combined with the superior range the Escort 8500 has on picking up radar signals, with its superior filtering capabilities, earns the Escort 8000 a five star rating. Flash upgradable by Escort.
About $299

We do not sell the Valentine 1, however as many people consider this radar detector the bench mark of radar detectors we do test it. The Valentine 1 is an excellent unit with excellent range and filtering. The big drawback in our opinion is the price as it costs $399.00. In our testing, the Escort 8500 outperformed the Valentine 1 in range and filtering. Upgradable by Valentine

Don't forget that unless your handy and know what your doing someone is going to have to install the LASER dectector! Last time I checked Tweeter want about $200 to install!
BLINDER RUNS
M20-X Treme: $349.95
M30 X-Treme: $429.95
M40-X Treme: $599.95

With Laser you'll need to JAM the signal! YOU DON'T WANT ONE that only detects laser cuz when it goes off it's already to LATE!

In my opinion the Beltronics 940 is the best performing radar detector for the money - $160. It is the same performing unit as the 985 for alot less. It just has fewer features. Remember the Passport recently bought Beltronics and they would not buy a radar company that had inferior technology or products. In all the radar tests that I read on the internet, the 985 was only slightly less responsive then the Passport. (In fact, if you read the speedzones.com lastest radar report the Beltronics is clearly rated better than the Passport.) The difference in price was not worth it to me to go for the Passport with only marginal increase in performance.

I just found the Beltronics 940 on Amazon for 161.99 and the 960 for 189.99. They both look like they should do the job.

A radar that accurately measures speeds while making every radar detector useless.

The only thing the public have going for itself is that the police departments don't have the finances to buy the new stuff! :help:

Their latest invention "making every radar detector useless" is POP or "instant on" which has been around a while and the current detectors can handle it.
